Re: Upgrade Times and current pool of eligible FOs

If you consider 2.5-3.5 years fast. Most people would say so, considering it's at a major airline. Captain status pay begins at "Activation Date", which is set at 9 months after the Bid Award of position. Training usually begins 9mo-12mo after award, but sometimes less, sometimes more depending on w...

Re: 737 max

This is a tight margin business. I'm quite surprised the airline can afford this whole situation dragging on and on.

My suspicion is that the writing is already on the wall for this type to leave AC sooner rather than later.

Re: Getting a mortgage as a Pilot

Yeah that's the problem I'm coming up against. The annoying thing is that I certainly can afford the repayments, I'm paying more now in rent, it's just that to qualify they use a much higher rate than you actually get once you have the mortgage. Thanks for the info though. If you think simply compa...

Worried you may have to fly the MAX? Me too. Bid to the C Series, that fixes all, and you still get a tray table.
LOL... "C Series, that fixes all" ... I doubt that.

Re: First few years pay

2017 shows $75k.
25% year 1, 75% year 2 on flat pay on narrow body.
Flew a bit of overtime every other month. Could have easily done another 10k.
Sorted out pension in fall 2017 contract agreement was a huge relief for the long term.

Awesome awesome job, simply put.

Re: NewLeaf using Enerjet ?

Shell games and ricky business. Building a business plan on the supposed idea that customers are being unnecessarily gouged is arguable at best, considering some of the highest load factors the various Canadian airlines have ever seen. This has to be one of the weakest business ventures that has com...

Re: New CPA and flowthrough to Air Canada?

If that were true, there'd be no chance of ratification by over 1400 pilots. Mostly because there's be no future for the remaining 900 pilots unaffected by the Migration Agreement. Furthermore, current pay scales would just remain the same and the same problem to AC & Jazz would exist in 4-5 years.

Re: New CPA and flowthrough to Air Canada?

I think the above post accurately summarizes things unfolding in the near future.
Beyond that, I wouldn't expect any real information for at least another week and a half. APLA does things a little differently than ACPA.

Re: Air Canada Rouge cabin crew to pay for their training

Given the pay, working conditions and buy in, I think they'll still have no trouble finding willing volunteers. Very simply because there are a lot of worse jobs that pay the same or worse. People find all sorts of creative ways to live on 20K in Canada. Especially when they have zero student loan d...

Some questions for the recently hired.

Are medicals completed in YYZ only or can one be done in another city where they have a base?
Do new hires currently have travel benefits from the start or only after six months?
Have there been any bases offered to new hires outside of YYZ? Which ones if so?

I am in shock that the Canadian Government is taking sides with AC management......whats next? what does this mean for every other union? what is going on in Canada? Shock? Free market? You're in for a real treat if you think this government believes in free market negotiations. I assume the majority of ACPA membership voted for her government. I've been thinking that voter regret will sink in when Ms. Raitt does what she does best. It does not really matter who she an...

It wouldn't be too far-fetched to say it could have been planted by someone with an interest in having him detained. It could happen to any one of you.
