Re: Headset recommendations

Had Zulu 1 and now 2. Hands down best warranty. Always comfortable even after a 14 hour duty day. PFX nice but eats batteries at over double the rate. Probably get 50 hours of flight time on two AA's given they sit out in -30° also.

Re: Getting hired

I personally know 5+ guys who all just went to Jazz with between 1400-2000 hours and no ATPL. They're all banking on PICUS. Any outlook on how long it might take to get enough PICUS to get your A's?

Re: Redundant Rules and Regulations

Vestigial sounds like a good possibility lol. They seem to like to change regulations piecemeal, perhaps to limit their exposure to legal liability.

Re: Redundant Rules and Regulations

Still don't have an answer and it seems CpnCrunch is the only one that can even properly comprehend the question. I have been wondering about this little sentence in the Cap Gen for a couple years. It's the only thing I can't possibly figure out why they even bothered to include.

Redundant Rules and Regulations

Just wondering if anyone can explain why this exception exists in the Cap Gen for LVOP/RVOP: D. Where the aerodrome operating visibility as set out in subsection (A) is less than the minimum visibility published in the CFS, a landing is deemed to occur below published aerodrome operating visibility ...

Re: Most cost-effective way to get Multi-IFR

Buy a Saitek Yoke and Throttle Quadrant and FS9. Read the AIM, CAP GEN, Air Command Weather Manual, and the Instrument Procedure Manual. The old TC IP Manual is free online like the AIM. There's a new one by Capt. David Holland that is an easy read considering the material it covers. Practice holds,...

Re: Bearskin Metro 3 CYRL accident - Speculation thread

I'm pretty sure in the event of an engine failure if the NTS system fails to work all of the oil pressure in the prop hub will, in fairly quick fashion, disappear and the prop will go toward feather. The start locks will not engage unless the power lever is held in Beta during deceleration. The lock...

Re: 737-500 crashes in Kazan, Russia

To me this speaks to the importance of upset recovery training. The FAA has been implementing rules stipulating required aircraft upset simulator training. The point was really driven home in the case of the Colgan crash in Buffalo where the mishandling of the crew not only caused a jet upset but pr...
