Re: TC Office Exam Wait Times
With the back log in exams, do you guys anticipate they will extend the current exemption for doing the CPL Flight Test before the Written? "NCR-128-2020" for reference. As per COPA in email dated a week ago: "CPL WRITTEN EXAMS – Written CPL exams are now being invigilated at Brampton Flying Club (...

Re: Maintenance Engineer/ Commercial Pilot
Thats the way I view it also, why have a limiting skill set? Why not be a AME with M1/M2 CPL and CPL(H). I know a few people who have all of the above and have bounced around in the career as they saw necessary. Personally I started as a pilot until I ended up out of work when oil field died, went b...

Wanted: Block time CYEG area
I am currently living to the south east of the airport looking for block time in aircraft around Camrose, Wetaskiwin, Ponoka.
Occasional use for up to 3 day trips expected use around 25 hours. Open to all types of aircraft including float planes.
Currently flying as a commercial IFR pilot.

Re: Encore AME jobs
Westjet is cheap and they are not going to fill those AME positions fast enough. Encore pays peanuts and they will end up getting monkeys. I think not; a few people I know recently applied for a WestJet job and was not given an interview even. They seem to have more than enough for the spots they h...

Dont think Goldak will. They seem to have hour requirements for each of their clients that differ.Braaaap wrote:Going to resurrect this old thread by asking if anyone knows which of these, or any, survey companies hire wet CPL's. Planning a bit of a road trip.
Thanks!

Re: Demand for float drivers 2017?
Agreed. That summary of mechanical aptitude is great cover letter material, and it's fantastic as far as it goes, but you aren't trying to sell to us, you're trying to sell to them. What I'm saying is that if you have the actual ticket for Marine Power Maintenance (or equivalent), then writing all ...

I believe aerial inspection and photography without carrying any passengers or people to do the job is legal. As long as you dont hire anybody.

Re: Pilot + AME
As you can imagine the main reason for not wanting to give up on flying is to maintain currency while at the same time obtaining my AME license. Of which even if i could fly a fraction of that time (fly out save a plane/re positioning flights etc) that would be very welcome to me. That being said on...

Yea that's not how it happens. Unless you somehow moonlight a job which would still be illegal.BGH wrote:Fly all day, wrench half the night - that's not a recipe for a fatigue related accident in a commercial operation.

Re: Pilot + AME
You cannot do both at the same time in a commercial operation safely and efficiently. YOU CAN ! I have done it the past 2 years. Personal management ( time/fatigue ) is very important ! You MUST be the sort of person who knows when and how to say No AND be good at both flying AND maintenance! I kno...

Pilot + AME
Hello; I am curious how much a possibility a dual role position (pilot/AME) is anymore. I started out pilot but ended up out of work when the economy went down so I went to school for AME. Maintenance experience is on the low side but I have seen and helped with most of the maintenance on aircraft I...

Re: Expectations for Roadtrip?
Depends largely on timing. Some friends got onto right seat king air at 235 hours; others got into 172s or the like doing pipeline patrol. Half the people I knew have dropped out of the industry...largely in the last couple years.
Quantity over selectiveness would be my 2 cents. Ask everyone!

Re: Best Countries/Operations for low time pilots
For the most part in this industry, the country whom the company belongs usually hires their own locals if possible. Depends which part of flying in the industry you are looking for anywhere but Europe seem to be open. Most companies do look for the quality foreign pilots with well rounded experienc...

Any Pilot/Ame Jobs?
School here ends next year for AME but I am looking ahead for anyone who hires people to do both maintenance and flying. Hoping to do some float plane work or remote operations (any country). Any recommendations?
