Re: How to get rid of ACPA?

Do you all remember in the last reopener when the sky is falling people were screaming that Air Canada would “double Rouge overnight” if we voted yes?

COVID aside, that never happened, of course.

Ignore both extreme opinions and use your head and a little common sense.

Re: Amputee PPL

I knew of someone who did their PPL in an Ercoupe. No rubber pedals only 1 pedal for the foot brake. It had integrated rudder and ailerons through the control yoke and limited elevator movement that wouldn’t let it stall/spin.

Re: 220 Pilots, what are you thoughts so far??

The MAX8 burns the same fuel (2200 kg/hr) as an A319 which AC has configured with 48 fewer seats (120 vs 168). The A220 and 190 are both around 1800, (from what I'm told) as few AC pilots have ventured above FL290. My numbers are based on “at altitude” but yes, stuck at FL290 the A220 burns the sam...

Re: 220 Pilots, what are you thoughts so far??

Book says the MAX and EMB both have the same fuel burn with the A220 burning 360KG less and hour than the max. 2160 vs 1800.

Re: 220 Pilots, what are you thoughts so far??

Just as a passenger I wasn't super impressed. The lavs at the back make no sense and it's loud as a passenger. Really looks like a beefed up modern CRJ900. Really first world problems, but honestly I expected a little better from the C-Series. I'm sure its a great performer and I would love to driv...

Re: 220 Pilots, what are you thoughts so far??

I like it. The HUD takes some getting use to and once the FL290 issue is resolved it’ll be a good plane. Passengers seem to like it. Plane has a few quirks but once you get used to them it’s nothing.

Re: A220 cruising altitude

Seems to be happening to new engines only. These engines are built to such tight tolerances that anything slightly out can cause an issue. Once the engines seem to get some time on them and “loosen up” they seem ok. It’s a combination software and hardware fix. Word is maybe the fix will be approved...

Re: Why Can’t All Airlines Continue CEWS?

Companies in a free market economy are not charities. They exist for 1 purpose and that is too make money. If they can make or lose less money by laying off than that is what’s going to happen. It shouldn’t be a shocker or in the general public opinion, “a disgrace”, that layoffs occur when there is...

Re: A220 cruising altitude

From what I've heard the tolerances are VERY small. You only have a few seconds above 94% N1 before the engine has to be borescoped prior to it's next flight AND if they find so much as a tiny little something that engine is DONE and it needs to be replaced. Companies probably did the math and figur...

Fatigue rules for pilots that increase cost and decrease flexibility do not buy votes.

Rumours that the 220 may go to YUL first. Who knows, at this rate the YYZ 190s may not retire as planned in spring of 2020 if the max grounding drags on.....

Re: What bases and routes do you think the A220 will have?

https://canadianaviationnews.wordpress.com/2019/01/15/air-canada-studies-dozens-of-potential-a220-routes/ Long thinner routes, current Embraer flying and routes currently served by the A319. I read YVR-BOS and YHZ-YVR among others. It flies 1000nm further than the E190 so the possibilities are very ...

A small update but nothing really new. From the sounds of it the exit was in worse condition than the runway and the wind helped the poor folks along.

Won’t happen And the disappearance of GGN as an a Express carrier was not going to happen. GGN was going to get CRJ900’s and expand. That WAS the AC plan. Wonder what changed? I will go with 50/50 that there will be just 1 Express operating certificate within 24 months. What just happened? In the j...
