Don't know all the details but wondering why the pilot wasn't using the auto-pilot? Seems like a pretty easy way to avoid or lessen spatial disorientation, especially in IMC. I'm with JasonE, really hate sticking that nozzle in the hole before each flight. Only "complaint" about mine is I wish it had 100 lbs more useful load.

I'm of the opinion that if someone said that they saw fire, I'm getting the bird on the ground ASAP. I'm not taking a stroll through the cabin to verify it. Even if it turned out to be the strobes or sun lighting up the deicing fluid I'd prefer to be back on terra firma.

For the Aircam i would have to disagree. First, the words 'fast' and 'Aircam' do not belong together in the same sentence. I'm using an Excel spreadsheet too. I have the file in a Dropbox folder so it automatically syncs to my other devices. As long as I can get an internet connection, I'm golden.

From what we're seeing on the FTU side of things, if you have a pulse and a CPL, you're going to be hired. Guys with 1500 hours are being pushed to left seat. Rather scary thought when you think that total cockpit time could be less than 2000 hours.

Interesting that TC is being so picky about "on type". TC in Ontario was satisfied with a commercial pilot with turbine time for me to get my high performance (Cessna TTX).
