Re: One List
Genius move. Force the company to spend finite cash retraining pilots to fly aircraft temporarily until this SS is over. The airlines that bounce back to previous operations the fastest will be the ones that were not forced by intransigent unions to expend their most limited resource on idiotic, wa...

Re: Crew screening
Before someone tells a story about the rude CATSA worker that treated them like crap one day think about the majority who do a good job. I don't give them a hard time as it's not in my interest to do so. However I can't say that I've personally ever seen one of them doing a "good job". My entertain...

Re: Turbine on a PA31
Aklak Air operated a T1040. Never saw it out of hangar though. Piper also had a piston version, a T1020. Don't know much about them though. I'd go with the tired King Air scenero over any of the aforementioned above. I used to be the Base Manager for Aklak (Borek) back in 07/08 in YEV. I dont recal...

Re: Cargo of armed UN mines sparks El Al security alert in C
So easy to slander something you know nothing about, except through second hand news, purposely reported for self-interest on a nation, or its financial backers... I've worked at 3 UN missions, 2 military observer missions and one refugee. I will acknowledge that I may not know everything ab...

Re: WS GOOD WILL
The public is getting exactly what the majority of the public want. If that wasn't the case then Westjet, Southwest, Ryanair, etc. wouldn't be the successes that they currently are. Many people complain about it but, at the end of the day, are voting with their wallets.

Re: Approach Ban Poll
My issue with the ban is the lack of decent vis reporting. Won't even discuss auto stations as they are virtually useless. But even manned stations, went to yxs a while back and they were calling it RVR 1000. We picked up the runway visual descending through about 12,000 and 30 miles back. There was...

Re: To the crew of WJA659 Feb 23/2009
My airline also requires the pilots to inspect the wings under certain conditions after deicing. Most, if not all, airlines require this. This is good but at some point you are still trusting your life to the deice crews, or do you also get out and check the tail? As mentioned in a previous post at...

Re: Will Enerjet fly?
Did I hear right that Enerjet's first flight was Fort Mac to Gander? Can you fill up a -700 and fly that leg from that runway? ( I foget how long it is?). What about at 30c or so? It's a few hundred miles shorter than OGG-YVR which Westjet does. OGG's runway is about 500' shorter than YMM (roughly ...

Oh Mamma Mia, you need to really think this one over again. You are trying to tell me that a 5 year Captain is MORE valuable than a first year Captain??? IT IS THE SAME DAMN JOB. You really need to understand that not everyone who came here, came from jazz, or CMA, or Georgian, or (insert Turboprop...

Re: the new agreement
Opinion time: We NEED to allow us (the FO's  ) to slide over with years of service. Why? Because after 6 years at least (for some), it needs to be an incentive to take on the extra responsibility. Once the new scales for FO's get sorted out, why would a 6,7,or 8 year FO want to come over to t...

Re: WJ-AC Reciprocal Jumpseat
I agree that the situation at WJ isn't ideal, where there is a charge for the jumpseat, and should be changed. That said, there are some benefits that help offset that somewhat. It's not limited to 2 seats but to how many available seats there are in the back. Don't have to rely on the pilots to hav...

Re: historical Canadian airfares
That sounds about right. Vancouver to the U.K. one way was over $500 in 1972, and was still the same in the mid-eighties. Vancouver-Edmonton return, economy, without the infamous, "Saturday stopover", was $805.00 in 1982-1983. That's going back further than he wants, but is more revealing. I've hea...

historical Canadian airfares
Hello,
Hoping some one can help. For some research I've been doing I'm looking for some source of Canadian airfare data going back up to 20 years. Tried searching the web with no luck. Does anyone here know where such information could be found?
Thanks

Re: Attendants for disabled to travel free: court
I think you will find it will cost much more than they are predicting. Once people catch on to the fact that they can have their local friendly doctor sign a note for them saying they need a second seat for some disability I think a lot of people will do so. Also as I understand these rulings only a...

Re: Westjet Nickel and Diming
In any other industry, if you advertise a product at a given price, and then wont deliver for that price (before taxes), it's called fraud. For some reason, folks in aviation seem to think it's acceptable. I personally would like to see the fuel surcharge included in the price. That being said I th...

I disagree with you guys... This might not apply to Tango but more in regards to Air Canada. I travel to and from work internationaly and work long rotations.... 4400km in a 738 rather than a 757 or 767 - let's see what the public thinks! While the 767 may be nicer due to the wide body as I understand it the 757 and the 737 have the same fuselage cross section and cruise within about 20 mph of each other (.78 vs. .80) so I don't see that much difference.
