Re: Boeing Max.
It is not just the MCAS' erroneous commands, It is not just the misinterpretation of information displayed to the pilots. It is not just the lack of training specific to the MCAS. It is not the just the pilot training records. It is not just the maintenance practices. It is not just Boeing's arrogan...

Re: Noise Sensitive protesters are kind of...loud
I have faith in human stupidity. Buy a property that's affordable next to an airfield, then complain about noise. Buy a property next to the QEW/401, don't say anything about noise because... you know... driving is a right... right? Not to mention, those buyers need that parking lot to get to work. ...

Re: Seneca coĺlege flight instructor position
The requirement to have a degree in order to instruct there has been dropped. To my knowledge they used to be pretty stringent on that before but the industry is moving. Harder to hold onto the ones they hire as bigger things start calling sooner and sooner. If instructing is where you want to be, y...

May Actually keep the numbers up at the express Carriers as the Carrot is very much there and being dangled. Those thinking of jumping ship to Transat, Sunwing, or Team Teal or any overseas gig may wait until they know if AC will scoop them up or not. To my understanding every Express carrier determ...

The last information I had ( about 6 months ago ) was this: 7 on 7 off, Bases are Winnipeg, Thompson, Norway House and I think St Theresa point/Garden hill. Do the math, chances are you'll be away from peg. Pay was 55K for skipper. I've heard about an additional mileage system, but take that with a ...

Re: Air Lab 1900 FO Posting
They could ask 10 000 hours and 5000 hours jet time for this job: it's their right! It's a good gig, 6 months off per year, you'll never see this at AC feeders... Especially for somebody who don't want to live in a metropolis and need to commute! With a regional you end up 2-3 days home per month f...

Re: Theoredical Scenario
I think this topic has been beat to a pulp on other threads, you'll probably get a bunch arguing how the way they did it is essentially the only way the man upstairs meant it to be. To keep it brief, I think the regionals would value the experience like so: Right Seat twin turbine > Right Seat twin ...

Re: Keystone Navajo Accident in Thompson
Pretty sure in the PA31 it's called the Density controller. Not uncommon to be rigged around the 42" MP mark. I've seen Navajos rigged to 47" on brand new engines. Giddy up! Also, as said previously: Fuel Injected, no carb. Was in YTH a few weeks ago, called out for AvGas, call it prejudice but afte...

I'm 100% sure of no BE20 Company operating out of the Pas with 1000 hr drivers. They are strictly Medevac now.

Re: screwed, again
Teacher, I agree 100% The 703/704 shouldn't be exempt from these regulation changes because of "an additional 30% cost". It'll cost you more money to staff yes... but how expensive is an accident? The 703/704 guys are definitely the ones that are pushed the hardest and nickel and dimed right to that...

Re: SPIFR vs Crew in 703
On a hard IFR day, I'll take a sharp FO in a heart beat. However an FO who is still sitting on the button of the runway while climbing through 2000' can become a nuisance in a single pilot ship. Having experienced both I prefer having the FO around, you get to groom them, they learn, and after doing...

Re: Housing around YYZ.
I'd recommend not even driving to YYZ. Depending on what your schedule is like, i.e reserve call out time, single day or multi day pairings, I would recommend public transit. As a local I know the transit system in Toronto is far from world class but renting an apartment in the north end of the city...

Re: AirSprint Fleet Transition
Everyone is different in terms of lifestyle, but if an employer is working to improve life for its pilots based on their request... well you can't knock them for that. Know the nature of the beast you're trying to tame. Don't want to get a call at 2 a.m? Don't fly medevac. Want a "consistent" schedu...

Roar, You're right, 10$ a day is garbage, I wouldn't think twice to argue that. Pathetic for living on the road, you'll be able to eat one sub a day. And yes, you have to be ready to dig into your 0.25$ per picture to survive. Never said it was glamorous, but I personally don't know another 152 oper...

Re: AFS Aerial Photography
What was said above is pretty accurate. 152 Wise, it's the best gig you'll find. Base pay is 100$/week with per diems of 10$ a day. So really count your base pay as 170$/week. The rest is performance based at 0.25$ a picture. That doesn't mean you can shoot whatever you like, they tell you where to ...
