Long Term Disability

Are there any insurance companies out there who will provide descent long term disability coverage for pilots on an individual basis? My employer doesn't provide coverage and my financial planner has only found one company who will write me and it's not as good as someone of similar health who is no...

Re: Pilots contract

With respect to the NC and management, it's not AC's fault that the world is demanding more for their money. Flying is going to become cheaper and more and more common as a form of transport globally. It’s both AC and the unions fault for not recognizing the pace at which the industry is changing an...

Re: AC low cost carrier closer to becoming a reality

With globalization, an increase in middle class incomes throughout asia and middle east, constant oil price pressures, and demand for cheaper flights perpetuated by stiff competition, I see domination of low cost carriers as inevitable. Air Canada will never give this up. I absolutely believe that o...

Re: Next steps.

You should apply at Georgian. Lots of hiring and expansion. It's a great stepping stone into AC with better odds than other places to move on. You'll work hard, but can live in Halifax, Toronto and soon Calgary. We've lost several to AC, a few to Porter, Jazz, Sunwing and Transat in recent months. I...

Re: Air Georgian aka Air Canada express #3

I haven't heard of anything other than three planes in Calgary. There is a chance that Africa will extend past the summer and they are always looking for opportunities. There is no base in YUL, but there is flying from there. The interest is there to find a Dash 8 if the opportunity is right.

Re: FP today

Predictions all correct...except GGN will take over Sky Regional and buy out CMA. Porter will fail or (if it happens) the Halifax base will be bought out. Pilot wages in airline work will continue to slide downward and most carriers will have a "cadet" style entry program where inexeperience can jus...

Re: Does WestJet ever hire ex-employees back?

I say you re-apply again. Bang on the door some more. Show them you really want the job and didn't take it personally when they turned you down. There are lots of potential reasons you didn't get the job, many may have nothing to do with you or your perfomance or within your control. It would show a...

Re: Next Groundschool Dates?

I also "Always" think I am good looking. I have great ideas "Often" and get frustrated "Always" when others don't agree with my great ideas. It's also "True" that my drinking doesn't always never interfere with my job and family. I also happen to think that these are qualities found in an Air Canada...

Re: Next Groundschool Dates?

Thanks for the words of encouragement. It's been five weeks since the interview for me, but no call for a medical and we are going into Christmas. The interview went well, but I have heard of some getting a medical fairly quickly...so I assume most of you who have done the medical are in line for a ...

Next Groundschool Dates?

Is there any word on dates for the next groundschool?

How long has it typically been for those interviewed to get the PFO letter? It's been 5 weeks and waiting for the mail!

Re: Emirates recruitment drive

It is true that many countries overseas have similar issues, however these are relevant complaints and you will experience these frustrations in Dubai. It may take a few months or a few years, but you will get very tired, very quickly of these seemingly tiny, but constant problems. As we have said i...

New Twin Otter Viability

Get your heads out of the Canadian Snow and I believe you'll see there is a strong market for the next Twin Otter. It will be certified above 12500, it will be lighter and faster and have all the stol characteristics that make it valuable now. Canadian operators may not have the $$ to make it viable...
