Re: LEC Reps working OT

'If I didn't take the trip the flight would have been canceled'. Isn't that the point? If they start canceling flights due to lack of crew they will need to bring back our colleagues from furlough. 100%!!!!! How is it that random internet strangers grasp this concept, yet our elected officials don’...

Re: Swoop CRM Class Shutdown by Police

More than one dance partner here and I do know Tc isn’t granting extensions or offering approved video crm. I call BS! TC has given extensions for way worse reasons in the past! Maybe they aren’t issuing blanket extensions like they have for medicals, but I would be shocked if they didn’t approve i...

Re: H2AD vs. E2D oil level

If I recall correctly, the H2AD had a max oil capacity of 6 qts, vs the E2D's max oil capacity of 8 qts. My experience with piston engines was that they usually would have a "natural" level above which any extra oil would just escape out the breather, and end up making a mess of the airplane's belly...

Re: Minimum rest in the 703 world

My reserve hours are contractually fixed and can't be moved easily. I know days/weeks in advance exactly which hours I am expecting to be available. Outside those hours I've never received a call. As I understand it, my contract has better reserve rules than Air Canada. Still pretty crap compared t...

Re: Air Canada Pay

This is loaded with inaccuracies and just bad negotiating. You are advocating that year 12 pilots accept 10 year rates to bump up new hire rates? Think about that. Over a 30 year career (conservative cuz guys typically go to 35-40 years) Where will you spend the majority of your career? You just ga...

Re: Air Canada Pay

I would be curious to know what the average Year 1 New Hire t4 would be. We know the pay rate per month and hourly rate curious how much they are actually flying in a block since they are so short. Sometimes hourly pay rate can be deceiving one way or another. T4 covering 10 months as 1st yr FO (YY...

Re: Air Canada and SFO - Part III

For my own curiosity - does Air Canada operate the RMPs with SEL light On or OFF? I've always flown with SEL light OFF - my company has recently changed to SEL light ON - going to cause some problems imho. SEL light OFF is SOP. FO reaches around the thrust levers to operate the Capt’s RMP to tune V...

Re: Boeing allegedly Misled FAA on MAX certification.

But nice try, bigot. Nice try with the name calling, doesn't work with me ! Facts are facts ! Yes... facts are facts! You tried to claim that because the pilot was Ethiopian, he was likely Muslim; I countered with the FACT that Ethiopia has a Christian majority, so your assumption was mathematicall...

Re: Boeing allegedly Misled FAA on MAX certification.

Obviously, Being Ethiopian and calling on "god" He was most likely calling on allah ! There have been other accidents where this scenario played out and they have often given up on the fight and prayed to their god (Satan) but with no effect ! Actually, the majority in Ethiopia practice a form of C...

Re: Military license to CPL

I wonder how many civilian pilots out there did there 300 nm cross country with a buddy, splitting the cost so you didn’t have to do two 300 mile trips to meet the requirement... I seem to remember that being a common practice once upon a time, although I see they have amended the CARs since that ti...

Re: DOH merge.

Most of the AC pilots I have spoken to expect all TS pilots to go bottom of the list as per their collective agreement. Has this ever happened in any merger in North America? Anywhere? The contract says no such thing. It wouldn't matter even if it did. Most AC pilots I talk to know full well that B...

“Edmonton Centre, Air Canada’ssss 202...” I have caught myself saying something sounding like this... usually as I am trying to find something with our flight number on it... just kinda extending the call sign so you don’t think I’ve stopped transmitting. Yes I know that the flight number is always...

Re: 737 max

The simple answer is to fly an Airbus... you can leave your feet on the floor and your turns are still coordinated. And there’s no after takeoff checklist, so you can’t miss what isn’t there! And they are nice to hand fly, but have a brilliant autopilot and auto thrust system for the rest of the tim...

I suppose it helps if you read the actual question.... I read C180 and immediately thought of venturis! For an engine mounted vacuum pump, there is probably a better option than cutting a random piece of sheet metal to fit.

Does anyone know what positions they are hiring for in the Apr 22 class?
They haven’t got the training report available quite yet... there may (or may not?) be an equipment bid by then. But expect more of the same; I doubt that this will be that one chance to nab a 777 DEC position!

Re: Profit Sharing this April ?

ACPA is reviewing the options to see which profit sharing plan gives us (them!?) the best outcome... but they’ve been busy with other issues of late (that 737 thing, I think...), so they haven’t got around to doing the math yet.

Re: WOW Air collapses

The hotel has their name and address anyway, so they can go after the guest if they like. I believe you sign a paper that says you are responsible for payment if your company doesn't pay. Maybe some airlines are different, but I think most hotels use that standard thing. Most hotels we stay in just...

Re: Requirements for day stays

There is no CARs requirement, unless you are making use of a split duty day. If your company has an SMS program, you can make an argument for a proactive fatigue mitigation strategy. OTOH, having spent some time in most of the hotels in most of the communities in Northern Ontario, you may find the a...
