Re: Open Mic!
J3... handheld... 5-6th solo... Put radio down in lap, ground loop. Thigh wedged mike open... No clue what was said - but trucker language was surely involved. Atc's response - "if you've finished sh#tting yourself could you clear the runway." About two solid months I got ribbed about that one. And ...

Re: Ottawa RIver Departure under the Bridge
I'm still stuck on this clubs had seaplane neighbours for - what 50+ years?
They've been docked right beside the club for decades... And that particular takeoff was common in my recollection.
Suddenly video and complaints to media? Can we say nimbyism?

Re: Ottawa RIver Departure under the Bridge
yes - in fact there are still 2-3 planes docked just on the east side of the bridge. Now help me out... Just to the North East of the bridge is Rideau hall and 24 sussex drive - I haven't looked but I'm guessing there's an airspace restriction there... The approach for 09 at Rockcliffe is right the...

Re: Ottawa RIver Departure under the Bridge
Call me nuts - and I'll admit its been 20 years since I was on that section of river - but wasn't there a dock for seaplanes right there? As in neighboring the rowing club?
I remember watching seaplanes coming and going from their dock back in the mid 90s... And most took a similar takeoff...

Re: Truly maddening
How much could the pilot see - engine out approach, higher aoa to bleed speed... Probably looked good setting up - but no running motor, people move around not hearing danger approaching... Can we learn lessons - absolutely - should we crucify him? Probably not. Its easy to second guess his actions ...

Wanted - EZ/Cozy project
Might as well toss out a feeler here as well... Looking for a project - specifically a canard. (Leave that alone, 80s child - I still like the RAF designs) Pretty open to options on model (VariEZ is enough for me, but bigger is better right?). As long as the price is reasonable (Seems to be an issue...

Independent FI or small school near Calgary?
Figure best to ask here.. The big schools around calgary - don't seem to have much time for me... Working north, home to the calgary area on a screwy schedule that changes on short notice... Was planning to do my ground school online; schedule doesn't so much allow me to book instruction a few weeks...
