India to TC ATPL conversion
Hello,
What’s the process to convert an ATPL from India to Canada? Is all the experience 1 to 1 or are there restrictions for flight time credits? I’m being told some conflicting reports.

It could end up being here. I think you get the same amount of opinions but without the censoring that came with Vertical.

Re: New Licence Stats
There's a post in the Heli forum with the old stats.
An email to TC could verify what is current. They are very behind in their licensing process from what I was told via our company TC inspector.

It has to be the ads.
There is literally more room for advertising then actual posts.

Re: Canadian Air Force
My partner and some close friends have tried to go the airforce route and to be frank the military is not looking for “pilots” as much as they are looking for an aptitude that they want. All 3 had previous flying experience and only 1 passed the aptitude for a pilot, which they declined when they we...

Hopefully all goes well and they get ran correctly.

Was the CFRI within limits at the time? Or is that even applicable in Wawa?

Sept if you did happen to lose anyone, is the pay looking good enough to attract someone new? I spoke with another pilot a couple days ago who said their company is constantly increasing pay in order to attract more pilots. Intermediates paying 160k+ is fantastic news, I hope the maint side is seein...

Probably just doing some serious shit and things unfortunately went sideways. Petawawa has some bad mothers that do some wild stuff and close to the envelope.

Strobing/balancing the tail rotor comes to mind, as to how it happened though I haven’t a clue. Such an awful event. Hopefully it can be used as a reminder for everyone to be vigilant around a running machine.

Any drop is because they tie incenses to medicals processed. I haven’t had my $55 medical processing fee since 2019, and when I called transport to inquire they laughed and said they were years behind.

Re: Medium Helicopters Ops
Everything Easy Target said! Night and IFR basically means 2 pilots and 2 engines if you are carrying passengers. Single pilot IFR in helicopters is pretty much for a private machine/police, and even then I'm not sure it's something done in Canada. I'd have to find the document but I can't recall if...

Yeah it's still not where it should be, that US 120k is closer to $160k Canadian, that would be a very welcome increase!
Appreciate the info on the US aside of things, hopefully it will help show the difference in pay and what the equivalent experience is giving in the US.

On call 1/3 - 1/2 the year too. That’s grossly low for an atpl-h, no offence. What should an atpl be paid, whats the going rate? Bout twice that. Ems pilots in the same equipment states side make that 120k US is decent but certainly not double the pay in Canada. Cougar might pay the most for an ATP...

Doing a quick search, ATP in the GOM averages 120k, national average for EMS is 99k.

To be fair though you have been in the states for a while now Bugstomper doing maintenance, does that really represent a Canadian perspective anymore? The US is a different place entirely. I can agree with Rehande that the last 14 year for me have been great, lots of hard work and not always making ...

No that’s inclusive of on call as well, total shifts would be 1/3 - 1/2 a year being a mix of on call and actual shifts. I maybe work 10 on-call shifts a year. Agreed it could be higher, and there are jobs internationally where you make more. I chose to be home every night, works for me right now, t...

Re: Ornge
Absolutely. There is about 7-10k in built in OT on top of those salaries, a fair amount of OT during the summer months too, but the base salary could be alot higher than what it is. All in all 120-130+ (capt) 90-100+ (FO) to work 1/3-1/2 the year isn't bad, but not enough to attract or keep people.

Re: Ornge
A couple people have moved on or retired. Offshore has picked up and will likely have a number of people chase the $. Pay doesn't appear to be on the rise to match the cost of living increase/inflation as well. I don't know an exact figure but my guess is they need 5-10 pilots to be at a full compli...
