Thanks for a great flight Air Canada!
As a true teal die hard WestJetter for over 14 years, I love a lot of things about my company. That doesn't stop me from noticing things about our competitors, good and bad. Today I flew from NRT to YYC on AC010 in J Class. What a great crew and a great product, classy and friendly. Thanks for a won...

there are doubts that it was even written by a WestJetter. Looks like a competitor might have decided to slow the PR down a bit...
good little corp. snipe though, definately took some wind out of the Q1 day sails

Re: WJ to use cadets for 'regional' flight crew
out of interest, 5000 was a 'minimum' amount. For instance, only one guy in our class of 12 (in 2000) had less then 10,000 hours.
Now the minimum is 1500 hours, but I think the mean average is 4000 hours. I doubt we will have any trouble getting some experience for the right seat of the turbo-props.

delighted to see the responce by the employee group. As much as low costs, aligning the interests of the employee group with the company, is the key to the success of this ever-evolving business model

Perhaps I've misunderstood, but does this mean that people spent the entire summer assuming they were hired, only to be told no in the fall? What would be the reason behind this? It doesn't strike me as being very fair... especially from an airline that's known for how well it treats its' employees...

Re: Hiring Freeze at WJA?
So we heard today that because of the vast number of "higher time pilots" on the market and out of work at the moment, Westjet has completely dumped their pool in "pilots waiting" in favour of the higher time guys. This would mean that someone who was waiting for their phone call, would have to rea...

read the release again, AC lost money in it's operations. The numbers were worse then expected. Thank God for currency gains. This kind of self delusion by employees is what stops real lasting change.

Re: Twenty five thousand hours
At the rate i'm going right now i will have 10000 hrs in 9 years. I don't think it really matters after 5000 hrs. It matters if you go looking for a job, at least where I work (WestJet). When we do interviews, we go through the log books. If you claim 10,000 hours, we expect to see 10,000 hours pro...

WJ and AC at it again, I see. Ya should have been around when Eastern Provincial Airlines (EPA) and Air Canada were at it in the Maritimes many moons ago. To bad there was no such thing as" forums/chat lines" then, would have been interesting to say the least. Unless you consider that famous YYT es...

anti-government nut-job sexist anti-government nut-job, but free to express said opinion, even in boring drawn out terms. a society under threat requires a shared sacrifice to protect it. Great work WJPA!!
A good fair honest agreement we can more forward with from both sides. Any agreement favouring one side too much is bad for both. I appreciate the incredible amount of time put in by the WJPA reps and the Durf.

I don't know, they do a wide variety of dishes, poorly and are way overpriced. Typical roadhouse chain. I can assure you that while you may not see the value of the presentation and scenario additions to the interview, those of us involved sure do. It's been the best improvement I've seen.
