Bahamas air contact
Hey team. I’m a Transat Pilot in the Bahamas looking to get ahold of a Bahamas Air Pilot so I can use the jumpseat. I’m going to call the chief pilot as well but a personal contact is always best. Thanks for the help.

Re: Ear Problems
I had the same problem when I first started. I was flying skydivers and the descent from 13000' down with speed brakes on a 182 was excruciating. One doctor told me I had dual ear infectons! My ENT told me to take regular sudafed everyday all summer. It worked great. Halfway through I stopped taking...

Re: AT interview questions
They'll ask you about your career to date, what you know about the company, maybe how you feel about living in Toronto. The big question is asked in different ways to different people. I was asked "if there was a bag found on the aircraft after landing in Paris and the FA's wanted to call the police...

Re: Sunwest expanding!
I've heard about rebonding with these guys. I have a friend there who tells me when he finishes his huge three year bond he'll have to sign another one to change aircraft types. Is this the case? A continual bond if you want to move up in the company. And if you were to move up in the company to hel...

Re: Flight Crew Positions Voyageur
I love working for VAL. 500 hours a year on the 8, tons of money and a great crew. You do have to realize that you're in really shitty countries where the most terrible things happen. To my knowledge no one at VAL has ever been maimed in any way due to their location. I have been very scared on a co...

I've always considered my own skill level agaist my career aspirations. I feel like I've been lucky enough to go from a single engine job, to multi turbine FO, to multi piston pic, to multi turbine pic, to bigger multi turbine pic. Now I feel like I'm ready for the airlines. I strive to be confident...

Just finished loading a patient in my Be20 in God's Lake or somewhere and a metro swung in front of me so close I couldn't pull out. C'Mon Man! I put'er into reverse and showered his passengers with snow. Take that!

Davep your input is really helpful. Thank you. Of the people who are lucky enough to get an interview, would you know what percentage of those interviewed will be hired? I can imagine you'd have the pick of the litter.

Re: Question for new dads
We found a dvd called "Happiest Baby on the Block" amazing for getting our newborn calmed down and then asleep, then sleep for us. No monitor for us either. Mom did most of the work at night with the boobs and I made sure I did all I could to help her out and make her happy the rest of the time. Hap...

Re: 2nd road trip across Canada
One of my first jobs was at a skydive place north of Calgary. It really surprised me that not a single pilot came by the whole summer I was there. We had to call around for a pilot when we needed one! Anyways, it was a great job and I think people overlook skydive places on road trips. Don't go to S...

How AC has gutted itself.
I read a post awhile ago about the moves Air Canada has made over the years to gut itself of all its assets essentially. Aeroplan, heavy maintenence etc, etc. It was very well written. I've been trying to find the post with no luck. Can anyone help me out?

Also turn into wind on gravel and park downhill so it's easier to get going when you startup again.

Re: Did you ever sign a training bond or buy a PPC?
Hey Doc, needing a check book at the interview and qualified pilots missing opportunities without the cash may be the case for some companies, but not all. Will you accept that some companies have a reasonable system in place that allows for ANY pilot to ink a year long deal with a loan(that pays in...

Re: Did you ever sign a training bond or buy a PPC?
I work for VAL and I'm not sure about the "buying my job" either. They setup a meeting with the bank for my loan; 8 grand for the kingairs and 15 for everything else. Non pro rating and for one year. The money goes into a GIC and I pay the interest. VAL then pays me back for those interest payments ...

I don't think there is a problem with anyone giving there opinions about any operator. No matter how good or bad it may be. This isn't on the front page of the Free Press. Obviously every opinion will have a bias. You could be in managment adding posts or pissed off employees adding posts or anywher...

I'll through my two sense in here too as a former employee. That mechanic mentioned earlier was a good honest mechanic that I trusted. He was told to sign a plane out that he didn't feel was airworthy and promptly got fired for a "bad attitude". The bottom line is the company is CHEAP and if you don...

Re: global report on pilot flight duty times
Hey Shineyside I'm on your side. I do the same job and it happens at least a couple of time a week when you get screwed with too many flight and end up awake for 24 plus hours. Our company is usually pretty good about it though. The rest period starts when the captain says it starts. This works as l...
