Re: Negotiations
How does anchoring low raises at Jazz fortify bargaining against Air Canada pilots? "If you guys don't cave and take these [below average] WAWCONs, we'll take all of the low frequency routes that we can and fold them into JAZZ routes! And the you guys [AC pilots] will lose jobs.." something like th...

Re: YVR, Rooms, Carson
Carson is almost like three different companies under one umbrella; there's the YYC freight division, and the YLW and YVR Medevac divisions. YVR is a great base - the people there are great, and the mx is good - snag it and it gets fixed, with very few MEL carry-overs. Planes are a little beaten-up,...

Re: Negotiations
“Air Canada Express - PAL Airlines” Two daily YYT-YHZ round trip on PAL effective 01Jul, two on Jazz also. I’d expect the entire domestic Atlantic Canada Q400 operation to shift to PAL in the coming months, and YHZ-BOS/EWR to go on the CR9/E75. AC is going from 4 flights daily between YHZ and YYT t...

Rats leaving the sinking ship?
My job alert at Jazz just informed me that they're now looking for a 'Chief Pilot, Line Operations'. (Not sure why their algorithm thought that I was qualified!) I'm sure that it will go internally; would anyone external go to what appears to be a seriously listing ship?

Re: Negotiations
The VP retired - plain and simple. Wanted to spend more time with family and travel. He has received some pretty good bonuses and stock options over the years so I am sure he can afford it. Funny how there's always money for that, but when the pilots come to the table, the heat's off, carpet thread...

Re: Negotiations
A substantial pay bump for year 1-5. A moderate pay bump for all others but not necessarily linear. Partially accomplished by compressing the ridiculously long pay scales. Flow rate slightly reduced but 100% guaranteed. Best way to accomplish this is a reserved number in a case where a pilot is not...

Re: Canada vs US - economics & wages
So are 'we' asking for parity with US salaries in $CAD, or parity in numbers? That is, for a $100kUSD pay, are 'we' expecting $100kCAD, or $100 x exchange = $130kCAD?

Re: Skies Magazine - Industry in Crisis
I don't think traditional 703 operations have any future, especially the Multi IFR 703 operators. With 705 requirements dropping so fast, the old days of having a large pool of pilots who needed to build the 2000- 3000 hours it used to take to be competitive are over and not coming back. Not so sur...

Re: Pasco, we know!!!
Just to play devil's advocate, what *should* the pay be? I'd bet, if they were to pay $200k (if they could afford it) that they would still need to run ads, as people cycled on through in search of perceived nirvana at FlAirYnxWestPorter flying some big jet.. I'd also be willing to bet, if you staye...

Re: A read for all negotiating pilots - Even the Meter Reader job, which requires no education makes $70k a year!
$200K for medevac? I'd believe that when I see it; and, if it's Manitoba-based, that's 14 hour rolling duty days, flying your azz off (it's mileage-based, remember..) shitty strips in the middle of the night, poor wx reporting, and probably more than a few days of OT.....

Re: Flow through to AC
Jazz won't run out of flow candidates Most flow candidates are captains Jazz is out of captains and pilots qualified to be captains Sounds like OTS hiring will be the majority of new hires to me. A problem that would be quite easily solved with a pay bump. Lots of qualified people would apply for D...

Re: Brace for impact
Sad, for those who'd staked their future on 'flow' to mainline..
OTOH, Jazz, Flair, Porter, and AC are hiring; the door to the USA has been cracked open with the recent Brookfield posting, and if WEN wants to keep and attract people, they'll probably have to boost pay somewhat..

Re: New Hires
That is a great question. I'm not sure what airlines need to maintain a full schedule, but my best guess would be 8-10 pilots per aircraft, necessitating 500-800 new hires. That would be my best guess looking at it from the outside in anticipating reserve coverage. A better question would be where ...

Re: Blending Jazz and AC. It's time.
Any truth to a alpa and acpa in partnership to help with lack of crews? Maybe a flow program 🤔 no more interviews? Vomit in my mouth before that happens. Jazz is so desperate, they are hiring anyone with a pulse. Rampant fraud in their recent hires and a few in the flow through from what I hear. TC...

Too bad the same can't be said of the generator! I wonder how deep the hole in the tundra is?and the helicopter did not sustain any damage.
