Re: US Airforce may recall 1000 retired pilots!
Enlisted soldier have to give 8 years. Usually, an active duty soldier does 4 active, the the balance is in-active. You might remember the term "stop-loss" during the Iraqi surge 07/08. Once you serve the 8 years, you're done. No recalling ability. Officers: Different story. We have "service obligat...

I swapped a bit of airspace with those dudes overseas. They sure can move those underpowered birds around!

There's a lot of assumptions in this thread.
A smart pilot flies the aircraft the way the boss wants them too.
Some pilots forget who the boss is.

Wallypilot,
Air Canada pilots don't @#$! up... ever. Not in Halifax, not in Montgomery Bay, not if San Fran....
I can't remember where the radar altimeter antenna is, but I imagine with the deck angle during go around, the tires were lower than 59'.

Linecrew,
I see the disconnect here. What I meant to convey is driving vehicles while the chocks are being dragged.

No, that's not the case. Hasn't been for many, many years.Illya Kuryakin wrote:A stark reminder that these things are dangerous. Training has always been more dangerous than combat. More pilots lost their lives in WWII trading accidents than were killed in combat. Fly safe everybody.

Reading/listening to Canadian liberals opinions on the affairs of the US, is like listening to flight attendants tell each other how to fly the plane.

Fantastic. Good on you guys for getting something. Long time overdue.

You're comparison is like a C130 to a C17. Different missions.

I stopped reading a while ago, but for good measure, quoting or using Wikipedia negates any point you're trying to convey.

Ohhhhh the smugness...
I'm sure jealous that Canada was so civilly tamed...
Growing up, I remember that Monday in October being full of turkey, then carted off to the rink to burn off that excess gravy. What exactly were we giving thanks too?

Trying to keep it simple.

Don't confuse my snarkyness with not advocating for genuine skills. Without at least 1 autopilot, we aren't landing CAT II. As for the rudder on the bus, the computers are always smarter than any pilot would ever dream. At no point has any pilot ever disconnected the autopilot, or uttered the words,...

It's cute you think captains don't screw up approaches or the landing.

To finish, I thought again about the new era concept or change of mentalities, maybe Trump was meant to be elected by a silent majority. Just st a point of clarification. Trump was not elected by a majority of the poular vote. In fact, Hillary won the popular vote by more than 1.4 million votes! Th...

And a flow to mainline.
However this is nothing more than supply and demand. There are very few pilots on the back end of the upward hiring. These bonuses are designed for other regional pilots to laterally move from one RJ to another.

I had a few thousand hours of fixed wing time before heading to rotary flight school. The first time hovering was like trying to balance a bowling ball on a baseball. In cruise it's, for the most part, identical to fixed wing flying. Once you slow down below a certain speed you need to know how to h...
