Re: VIDEO - Aftermath of Fortunate Playground Emergency Landing

He did fairly well on the landing considering the field adjacent the playground is only 450 feet long! I suspect he turned and hit the fence at the opposite end. If you look at the satellite view of the area, certainly not a place I'd want to try and put anything down.

Re: FlightPlan Go alternative on PC?

I was never happy with their software anyways. Found it very buggy on 2 different tables, and gave up on looking at the ads. I'll just buy foreflight when I start doing longer flights again, 10x better.

I've read in many other parts of the world, you only have to quarantine until your test results come back.

8.5 more days for me to go...Just got back from 5 weeks in the US.

I lost a prop once...Best thing I did was get back in a plane a week later. It took a few months of mental processing to put it to bed.

Re: Buying vs Renting

for less than 50 hrs / year, my suggestion would be to find a local flying club to become a member of. They will have less restrictions that a flight school. i.e. Overnight, going for a burger and letting it sit for a few hours, currency etc. I've owned a Cherokee 140 and was flying it close to 100 ...

You can fly commercial into the USA without any issue. I did it this week to pickup a vehicle.

I am looking for a ride across the border myself to pickup a vehicle. If anyone is flying down privately or small charter please let me know.

Re: info on layoffs and contract employees I see

Yes there are 2 sides to having your employment terminated, employment standards act & common law. ESA dictates bare (& pathetic) minimums, but under common law you could be eligible for 2-4 weeks of severance per YEAR of employment. There are many factors that could play into this amount. Also keep...

It could easily be done in a Cherokee. They have a handbrake available, in fact mine only had a handbrake and no toe brakes.

Re: Flying to YUL

I think you'll find the worst part of a larger & unfamiliar airport is the ground taxi portion. Once I stopped in the middle of a taxi at a large airport to double check the map (at night too!). The controller called me up and asked if I needed assistance. My response was yes, I'm possibly lost. The...

That one's been listed off & on for 6 years now. They even tried to sell shares at one point.

Re: Private aircraft import

Travel restrictions are oddly for land crossings only. Oddly you can still cross by air or boat without issue! From: https://ca.usembassy.gov/travel-restrictions-fact-sheet/ Q: What will this mean for airline travel and other travel across the border? A: This action does not apply to entry into the ...

Re: Turn That Master Off For a Forced Approach

When I had my forced landing, I was quick to ready the aircraft for landing long before my turn to final. Only issue was I had to turn the master back on to drop the gear. Seeing the 3 green come on with a very suitable field within easy distance was certainly reassuring!

I am not familiar with your particular configuration, but on my Cherokee I was able to make an adapter that locked onto my quick release with a long tube to drain into a bucket.

Re: Owning and Operating a plane

I've owned 1 plane, a modest Cherokee 140 I bought for flight training. I continued to put over 300 hours on it in 3 years after getting my license. Had a blast, flew all over. When I was ready for an upgrade I sold it, then the upgrade never happened. Now I'm planning to go another route and build ...

Gotta like the 10 year passports now. Saves having to do this as often. Maybe try to find a local studio and call / email. They are probably hungry for work.

Re: Owning and Operating a plane

My advice with the current economy would be to wait a month. More people will get to the breaking point of needing to sell with the covid situation. All it takes is 1 major expense and the cost will skyrocket above renting. However you will have the freedom of flying when & wherever you want not wor...
