Re: Did they stopped hiring?
Latest info I’ve heard is that 2 classes at mainline from Encore and 2 classes off of the street for mainline in early part if the year with a major focus on Encore for hiring. Many courses to bring Encore up to proper staffing levels.

Re: 787 upgrade
I just completed my 787 training. You need approximately 8 yrs and 10 months seniority to hold a B787 F/O position. Lowest 737 Captain awarded on last bid will have 9 yrs 1 month seniority. As others have stated if more planes come upgrades will be quicker.

https://www.theglobeandmail.com/business/article-flair-airlines-boeing-planes-lease/ For those without a Globe Subscription: An aircraft leasing company seized four planes operated by Flair Airlines on Saturday for non-payment, causing the cancellation of several of the discount carrier’s flights at...

Re: How long to get YYC base
If the WACON is completely changed and matched to WestJet mainline then a complete rebid is definitely in order!

Re: How long to get YYC base
If they are as a DEC at Swoop they wood become an F/O at either WestJet or Swoop depending on what their seniority would let them hold.
Assuming the company and Union agree to ALPA’s position. If they were hired as an F/O they would still be an F/O.

Re: Lets put some pressure on
JBI said it perfectly. For the record I am a 9th year F/O at WestJet who bumped down to Encore last year as a Captain and was trained on the Q and flew for 8 months there. Was I happy bumping down and going to first year wages…no. However, I followed company SOP, flew the best that I could and tried...

Re: Lets put some pressure on
Some of the responses on here are pathetic. You are not in contract negotiations at this time you are just unhappy with your pay🤔. Join the others you mentioned and leave. The company will eventually see that they are under paying by the lack of applications in this hiring market and your brothers a...

Re: DEC Westjet Swoop
I don’t think for a second that on our next contract WestJet and Swoop will be at parity. Our contract has so many holes and poorly written sections that we will need all our negotiating capital just to close those holes with nothing left over to bring Swoop under our contract. Unfortunately I have ...
Re: DEC’s
Pay is a combination of hourly rate, plus ESP % and Stock Option Equivalency payout at WestJet. SWOOP does not have Stock Option Equivalency payout, less ESP matching and more days worked per month. WestJet minimum monthly guarantee is 77.5 hours pay, SWOOP is 75, ESP matched at WestJet is 20%, SWOO...

Re: Seniority Travel
Yes, and I benefited from this during my first 6 years....I want to ensure that pilots after me also get to benefit. WestJet was always known for the one team concept where all benefited. Now the union is here and some of the senior who benefited throughout their ‘junior’ time at WestJet want their ...

Re: Seniority Travel
This last year alone should show why commuters deserve priority over vacationing employees. How many of us have had to change bases and be forced to commute. Even with upgrades and then eventually, hopefully being able to get back to their home base shows the need for commuters. This is not the mili...

More likely to Cargojet. They already operate this type and with the same engines and since they have been certified to operate in Canada it would be a quick and easy transition....other than Cargo doors
