Re: Metro 3 ( dangerous as they say it is )
The aircraft was diverted to another reserve due to low oil pressure. Work was done on it (in attempts) to rectify the problem and while it sat overnight in the cold she developed a hydraulic leak from an oleo seal. The oleo leak was fixed and required a gear swing to be signed off. At no point was ...

Re: 704 CA or 705 FO ?
It’s great to have AC as an end goal and either path will get you there. My mindset has always been to pursue the flying that will bring you the most amount of joy while at work. On top of that I ask myself if the industry shits the bed will I be happy here, in this seat for the next ten years knowi...

Re: ALPA signing new agreements with training bonds
You are very right! Of course, the typical cpl would not have the resources to outright consider this an investment and this is where my perspective changes. These Cpls are not “waiting” around at Wasaya. They have begun the application process as an investment. That new cpl or “experienced” 1000 hr...

Prime +2%? So I’m getting a 9.2% return? How many type ratings can I apply for at Wasaya?

Re: Flair in hot water with the CRA
What if Flair has been a front for 777 group to launder money from their other endeavours? They do have a shady past and it wouldn’t shock me. With that perspective everything they have been doing seems brilliant.

Re: Would you go to AC?
I suppose a proper definition of corporate would be required. Are we including fractional operators? Are we including a bulk of the tails operating out of the north end that are solely dispatched by the sales team? If I had your gig or one of the few similar I wouldn’t bat an eye at AC or any airlin...

Re: Challenger 300 salary.
From my understanding, if you are in the experienced bunch, you should not have an issue negotiating 180-220k on a super mid (on a respectable OC) with 3 crew members in yyz. That is strictly base salary with all the fixings on the side

Re: Adverse Reactions Poll
Don’t feed the trolls, Covid happened nearly a decade ago. I still can’t seem to get my 5G working correctly from the chip in my arm. Did they not push the needle in far enough? Or maybe I got a faulty needle (4 times) and the tip never broke off? I had a lot of great info Bill and Melinda could hav...

Re: Open up new bases already !
I think you’ve missed the point entirely which is with proper planning you could live as far west as Woodstock and still enjoy life on call (as long as child care is available or not required) The second part is shit happens. I refuse to plan a commute around infrequent non-standard scenarios. What ...

Re: Open up new bases already !
My experience aligns comfortably with those conservative maps. I’ve received a short call out (2 hrs) while playing hockey in Waterloo. I even had time for the rink shower to come up to an appropriate temperature and still arrive at the gate with 5 minutes to spare. Before Covid this could have neve...

Re: Direct entry captain Air Sprint.
It would be an incredible feat if they managed to move into the long range jet sector especially with our population(USA has nearly as many affluent people as we do total). From my understanding of how the business model works you need a network of clients and machines, you can not start with one la...

Re: Canada given C grade in flight safety oversight, confidential UN agency report finds
I think the PICUS program can be a valuable tool. For example, the last pilot I ran through picus had 3 seasons on floats and about 1500 hrs as an fo between a 705 machine and a business jet. All she needed was about 15 hrs night pic. Her decision making was impeccable and scenarios such as this is ...

Re: Direct entry captain Air Sprint.
My apologies, I could have communicated it better. It “was” the best place I’ve worked. “Was” is very much the key word here. …and to avoid the oh you’re a shill for speaking positively loop about a company I will say the salary structure is made to attract pilots especially on the cj. In my opinion...

Re: Direct entry captain Air Sprint.
My experience with AirSprint has been nothing but positive. Hands down the best company I’ve worked for. That being said, it was work! It was challenging in many ways and very fulfilling. The biggest reason I feel this way is because from day 1 they are black and white on the expectations from both ...

Re: Staying in 703 or Going to Regional?
Air Canada will always be there. Sadly, those who have strictly focused on the end goal seem to be the most jaded, the ones I avoid golfing with as all they do is complain about work. My recommendation is to become the master of your craft. Learn everything you can from the captains you fly with and...

AirSprint has a great hiring committee and their typical (successful) candidate is very resourceful. I wonder if their careers page has any information that may provide you with an answer.

It is absolutely incredible that you are able to lead a normal life on strike pay. I have the utmost respect for you and all those that have that sort of financial intelligence as we have seen how easy it is to grow accustomed to each pay bump along the road. That being said, I am absolutely disgus...
