Re: Is Onex sniffing around?

Why would Onex want all that debt with an incompatible fleet type? No disrespect to AT, but they were struggling mightily prior to Covid.

Re: 4 Flair aircraft seized

The one airline that actually wanted to serve smaller markets will now probably go under. What a shame, flair made a huge difference in the Canadian aviation landscape and lowered prices of airfares for the past 6 years. Their loads are absolutely amazing this week (obviously), but even in the few ...

Re: Are Air Canada pilots the lowest paid in the world?

I keep reading that people do not leave AC for other companies and they have at least a thousand westjet pilot applications alone. So back to supply and demand, why would they consider changing flat pay much less give pay raises when they can meet their current hiring demands. I’m not saying this i...

Re: Recruiting Video

It is highly debatable how factually true the video was, but regardless it was made in poor taste and served no purpose other than to inflame the situation and undermine the negotiations. It lacked diplomacy and class. The fact that uninitiated anonymous posters cheer them on, is exactly the reason...

There is a higher demand for qualified CPT candidates than FO’s at the moment.

Re: #FakeSeniorityList

Here is a screenshot of the cover page for the document that our Association places on the EFB. Note the titles of the various lists on the document. Where is the Company maintained PSL/WPSL specified in Section 3 of the PTA? The first list is called "Seniority List". This erroneously titled docume...

Re: One List

It’s hard to understand your arguments in the other threads that Encore pilots shouldn’t be on the same seniority list as WJ pilots (even though that LOU was voted on and passed) when over the past two years hundreds of WJ pilots displaced Encore pilots based on seniority.

Re: Sunwing/Westjet

Killing the PTA doesn’t remove Encore pilots from their seniority shared with WJ and Swoop. The language in the PTA states that any member of the agreement can move to cancel it. However it also states that everyone presently on the “one list” will maintain the seniority number they have when/if it ...

Re: COMM failure on an open/closed STAR

Real world answer. Squawk 7600 and do what ATC is expecting you to do. You would have known what runway was active and the forecasted weather prior departure so setup accordingly taking into consideration applicable notams..don’t land on a closed runway. Fly the star as published and transition to t...

Re: One List

Due to a desire to change jobs back in late 2019, I thought I might start applying at WJ. The Onelist thing had fallen through. Seemed like a good place to work. Then all of a sudden, Onelist. Instead of anybody coming into WJ mainline from the outside starting at the bottom, which seemed fair, all...

Re: MOA2

Frankly I don’t believe the Encore MEC should have had the right to negotiate the terms of employment for those positions. I’m assuming most, if not all of those who negotiated those terms had their layoff notices already or would soon to be receiving them. This was a greasy play by the company to ...

Re: MOA2

This $625 compensation that only goes to a select group of Encore employees, can you explain what compensation the laid off WJ pilots who bump into Encore get? Why don’t they get $625? They are not coming as beggars, with cap in hand. They agreed to sell out the seniority of their fellow bargaining...

Re: MOA2

I agree with Stratopaused ... the Encore MEC did exactly what any MEC should do right now...try and protect jobs. In fact its what the mainline MEC should be trying to do as well .. what the hell is the point of laying off 1700 pilots, when you could have easily cut that number in half or a third b...

Look what is happening around you?? Are you blind. Airlines are crumbling around the world. What kind of deal did you expect? You think you can get water from a stone? The idea that these 150 extra jobs at Encore is a ploy or a tactic by the company to undermine the pilot group is just ridiculous. Y...

Re: One list

Voting yes to this is a no brainer as it makes the pilots unified and content vs a divisive group. [/u] Industry leading really. It only strengthens us and the company. WJ has to wait for the encore TA to wrap up is my guess and glad the WJ MEC has stopped playing games to get this rolled out. Not ...
