50 hrs. on floats vs. 15 hrs. + MEIFR
Hey everybody, I'm going to finish my CPL by the end of this year, with the intention of finding a job flying on floats (hopefully not, but most assuredly in BFNW) next spring. I currently work for Harbour Air as a dockhand, which gives me a litany of pilot opinions on what I should do for training,...

No job lined up, cyyb. Won't be employable until the 2016 season. Just curious how my next few years might line up.

Re: 50 hrs. on Floats towards CPL: School or Bush Operator?
Buying a plane isn't an option. Any problems and I can't afford to fix them. I'm working full time, living with parents, and don't own a car. All my money goes into flying. I have no more to give. I need some lottery tix.

Re: 50 hrs. on Floats towards CPL: School or Bush Operator?
So it's sounding like claiming PIC time with Bush Dude to my right ain't the way to go. Would it matter if I had 50 hours on floats and no solo time (aside from the 5 takeoffs and landings needed for the endorsement) when initially looking for work? And for clarification I fly out of Pitt Meadows, B...

Re: 50 hrs. on Floats towards CPL: School or Bush Operator?
To clear things up, flights with Bush Dude would be XC, with plenty of landing/take off exposure. While I would be PIC, he would still be next to me to give input. I'm not going to sit back and be lazy just because there's someone there. There's no way I could ever get and hold down a job, let alone...

Re: 50 hrs. on Floats towards CPL: School or Bush Operator?
As for Bush Dude being at my side and me calling it PIC, I guess I would get PIC time and he wouldn't claim any flight time in his logbook. His words were essentially, "You can have PIC time. I don't need more numbers in my logbook." I haven't had a chance to discuss this with an instructor from my ...

50 hrs. on Floats towards CPL: School or Bush Operator?
I'm currently at 100 hours, and debating getting 50 hours on floats as part of my CPL training, as my ultimate goal is working for a float outfit that travels between Vancouver and the Island, or something kinda sorta like that. ObViously it'll take time working in the middle of nowhere before that ...
