Re: Grab a seat cause the music is about to stop...
I don't really care much for the daily ups and downs. I'm heavily in dividend paying stocks. As long as the long-term demand for oil, oil drilling services, oil pipelines, rail transport, toothpaste & soap, groceries, bank loans, cable-internet, cellphone plans, fertilizer and beer don't wane then I...

Re: Jack Layton’s Federal Erection issue!!!
One point of the NDP platform made me smile, the prime + 5% on CC rates. How many banks would issue a credit card with that restriction attached to it? How about those that maxed out their cards at 21%, what'd they do at prime + 5? Very soon, large swathes of the population would only be able to bo...

Re: Jack Layton’s Federal Erection issue!!!
I really think there should be some basic requirements before somebody is allowed to stand for election:
- Be over 30
- Had a mortgage
- Worked in a professional capacity for a minimum of 5 years in a non-unionized private industry
- Have had a child

^And how is any of the above the fault of the people running? Oh it's not - it's a reflection of the electorate. It's concerning that the official opposition is now composed of people who have no life experience, no business experience, no professional experience (in fact no professions at all it s...

Re: Jack Layton’s Federal Erection issue!!!
^ While sad for the proprietors of those businesses I disagree - I'd like to see a lot of smaller air operators and flight schools go out of business. Operating in a federally regulated industry and so devoid of minimum wage legislation has always been a convenient way of screwing the pilot workfor...

Re: Jack Layton’s Federal Erection issue!!!
One of the NDP policies is to bring back a federal minimum wage. That would have serious effects on the aviation industry. Probably end up pushing a lot of flight schools and smaller operators out of business.

Those fuel taxes intensifies the price-sensitivity (and hence competition) meaning that the underlying cost of gas in Canada is actually cheaper than it is in the US.

A friend of mine was learning how to throw a boomerang. Couldn't quite get the hang of it.
Then finally gave it one last try.
Damn thing came right back and hit him right between the eyes.

If fuel price is really a problem for you then now is the time to make your investment for the spring rise. You're pretty much guaranteed to make 20-30% over the Feb-May time frame each year.

Mutual funds are only good for when you're starting out - they're very expensive - charging 2%+ in most cases - which over the long term will eat up the majority of your returns. The only real advantage that mutual funds have is that you can drip feed into them each month for no additional cost. Onc...

Just out of interest, do they still come with interchangeable panels?
I remember when they first came out in Europe they did so you could change the cars colour as you wanted.
Not my choice but a clever idea nonetheless.

Re: Night Rating
Learn about the transition. This is so common, and killed JFK, jr and his pax. You're flying along at night, lots of lights, good VFR horizon references, and you head out someplace, like over water or Alqonquin park with no lights. You will roll over into a spiral dive and die, if you don't get on ...
