Re: Layoffs

Even the most conservative investor could have easily lost 50% of their portfolio. The stock market as a whole lost 70% in value so actually the average person who didn't sell anything lost 70%. This has nothing to do with volatility, it is a crash. Yikes, where did you get your MBA? Everest colleg...

Re: Layoffs

If I could give a guy who owns a L39, some B1 passes to retire, I would. But surely you can just buy the tickets. 10k is a lot, but not when you have millions. My dad lost $700k in the stock market in this. Worked so hard his whole life (not airlines). Total Alberta blue collar work horse Deserves ...

Re: Cold Weather Corrected Missed Approach Altitude

Pretty clearly explained in the CAP. It’s not if you’re in a radar environment, BUT on radar vectors. Pilots "should" not shall. cold temp corrections are not law, they are a recommendation. I personally think they are useless 99% of the time. The only time you actually have a chance of being saved...

Re: CBC Called Out by Air Canada Social Media

I was surprised that Air Canada didn't censor "bullshit". Had to double check and make sure that facebook page was the real one. I don't care, profanity doesn't bother me. But still, I don't know if this was the most professional move on Air Canada's part and if it will accomplish anything. Clearly,...

Re: Defering a job offer.

I defered my job offer for bond/contract reasons. On my initial phone call in April 2017, I told them I was only available to start in September/October due to my bond. (Had to give 90 days notice in order to not pay anything on a pro-rated 36,000$ Learjet 70 bond, and they guy I work for is a real ...

Re: Reference Contact

Don't worry, it can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks. They called mine a few days after my sim but some of my friends have had it take 2 weeks and more.

Either way, from what I've seen no news is good news.

Re: Suggestions on flying while going to University?

If you haul ass, you can get done in less time, i.e. do full-time summer course loads. One of the perks of living in "La Belle Province" is my university education cost me about what I paid for my PPL. Amen to that, i'm orignally from Montreal hence my username. And thanks to everyone for the advic...

Re: Suggestions on flying while going to University?

As an engineering graduate (Mechanical, aerospace/control sys) let me warn you that working in a job that is not a "beer fund" job during your studies is going to be very, very difficult. Not impossible, but very close. Mechanical engineering is one of the most difficult and demanding undergraduate...

Suggestions on flying while going to University?

Hey guys this is going to be my first post so I hope it's in the right spot! Anyways I'm 21 and working up north right now as an F/O. Flying has always been my passion but i'm really interested in the science of airplane design - particularly the engines. When I was offered this job i was in my firs...
