Re: Asthma in Aircraft Maintenance

You should be fine. Know yourself and know your triggers. I've worked with other AME's who have had both severe and mild asthma that have never had any issues. Its easy to be proactive, with PPE when needed, if you are on an inhaler be sure to have it with you at all times, as well inform your co-wo...

Re: CBA's Calm Air, Perimeter, Keewatin Air

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend anyone to look into Calm Air. I worked for then for just over 5 yrs. Still have friends there. I learned alot! Great experience! I have no personal experience with the other companies, but have heard all the same negativity thats been expressed here about them. But i...

Re: Why this job pay like sh*t?

UGH!!! Somebody stop feeding this troll....LOL. I went to a great school, but I also researched all the schools across Canada, was lucky enough that one of the better ones was only a couple hours away. I have no idea about centennial college, but I do have colleagues that attended there, and they di...

Re: Why this job pay like sh*t?

Aviation is not for everyone nor is any other job. In this case reading what this guy is saying I would say it’s not for him. Furthermore I believe talking to someone would greatly be in his best interest. Never heard a person be so bitter and twisted about life in general. Not healthy. Right! The ...

Re: Support Westjet AME's

Lmao, is this even a job or a concentration camp? I'm done and the proof is I lost all my qualifications! I'm not a Pilot but I know plenty of people who went to get their CPL. We all know how that profession works! You see how sh*tty these jobs are and how unreasonable it is to do? It wouldn't be s...

Re: Tronsojet PEI

Wage is subpar to say the least. I am sure many will apply hoping to move back to the island. I don't think you'll see anyone with any substance apply, even to get back to the island. I'm in New Brunswick, and was hiring 2 years ago. Our starting pay was much more then that. I worked out west for m...

Re: Instructors at AME school

POSTER... Your career in aviation maintenance will be what you make it! I'm sorry to hear your instructor is as glum, he clearly didn't enjoy his career and by the sounds of it didn't make smart career decisions along the way. If you can try to drown out his naggy skepticism and focus on learning th...

Re: Ferry piston aircrafts across Canada

Some of this is an interesting read. I'm a newer CPL with 350ish hours and i did my commercial cross country from New Brunswick to Winnipeg return, all in a Cessna 150, even landed and stayed a few days at the Winnipeg Airport. Full disclaimer, I owned the aircraft and did not do my flight training ...

Re: Maintenance Engineers

From what I understand is covid really pushed back aviation and a lot of licensed AMEs retired.. now us students are having a very hard time finding apprenticeships that aren't 4000km+ away. It's a bit daunting really. MrFixit.... You aren't wrong. To be honest tho its been my experience that not m...

Re: JD Irving Ad

Any of the Irving flight departments would be a great gig. BUT they can afford to be picky, looking for a person that will be the right fit for the job. I know some of the people at all the Irving flight departments and by far a majority are great people, and amazing job security. As for Saint John ...

Re: wanted: freelance AME

U will get exactly what u paid for .. AME expects to be home for supper & will not attempt anything that will take time or require anything like riveting or looking under the floor (need to remove seat for that) or gear swings. Remove cowls, scrape out the lead from the spark plugs, oil filter, oil...

Re: Suspended AME application from tc.

You could move your file to another jurisdiction. My experience with TC was ask two different people expect two different answers. They are “experts” at interpretation of grey areas. If that fails maybe appeal it somehow and if that fails find the logbooks and start looking for tasks. Transport Can...

It's incredible what's going on there, I used to live and work in La Ronge quite a few years back and still have friends there at the tanker base, best wishes to them!
