Re: Layoffs

Talk about thread drift....unreal. I'm betting on the "cheap" folks doing better than the YOLO crowd. While under traditional economic circumstances, you would be undoubtedly correct. However, current cost of living in our Canadian cities after essentially selling out the middle class has cre...

Re: Layoffs

I'm not even sure how to respond to that thrashing other than to say I fortunately live down the road from my parents and not in the middle East so I know intimately his cheapness. For the record - he is not cheap to others, but cheap to himself. I take it youre not buying any beers on layovers. Kee...

Re: Layoffs

He lost $700k but yes he started with $2.6M. My point is his cheap ass couldn’t enjoy it and now it is gone. He doesn’t seem too worried. He still has lots. My other point is the AC pilot that this retirement package targets has lots of money - already. But time is a resource that is limited no matt...

Re: Layoffs

If I could give a guy who owns a L39, some B1 passes to retire, I would. But surely you can just buy the tickets. 10k is a lot, but not when you have millions. My dad lost $700k in the stock market in this. Worked so hard his whole life (not airlines). Total Alberta blue collar work horse Deserves e...

Re: Layoffs

I'm curious to hear what some of those who now are contemplating retirement think of that portion of the MOA? I wouldn't be critical of anyone who decides to wait it out, their seniority has earned them that right. I'm sure the decision making process is different for a 59 year old than a 64 year o...

Wouldn’t it make sense to shed from the top from a financial and health point of view? Re: Grab a seat. The music is stopping

Just booked a flight on Swoop from one side of the country to the other in May.....Under 100 dollars return, including tax. Never even heard of under 100 dollars for a 1 way ticket. A fool and his money is easily parted. So you could have bought a ticket on AC or WestJet at a great discount right n...

Re: Air Canada Pay

AC pilots will end up in aribitration sooner than later. How can they demand "industry standard" (even close to US carriers) when the rest of Canada is willing to work for way less garbage wages for airline work. It is absolutely up to the other carriers to step up their game. Ac is getting dragged...

What's the deal with Cloak anyways?

Is he some kind of wanna be super Koolaid drinker manager? If you read his drivel it is like WJ Poop don't stank no matter what they do (but be sure the pilots still are required to pick up this poop after each flight)

Maybe it's a bit of a grey area,, must be management material or something.
A bit of a "grey" area

I doubt Murray would be interested. He seems pretty switched on

No way Transat goes to the BOTL. If it was an Alberta pipeline, it probably would, but a Montreal Based company need not worry.

DOH is unlikely as AC didn’t even use DOH for its own list

Flying domestically and being at a hotel up to 12 nights a month with short layovers (12 hours), I hardly ever had more than a few beers month. International flying, generally I have a few beers every layover as you are generally in an exotic location and after traversing half way around the world, ...

From Murray's mouth - they are planning on indefinite growth. Not saying that couldn't change. But - just announced YVR - Auckland, with 2 other routes That's 4 flights weekly with 4 pilots per leg... Those long haul flights is where quality of life goes up. With rumours of more to come... Re: What's the oldest age one should consider AC

When it comes to AC, you either $hit or get off the pot. Sooner you get here, the sooner you get seniority, sooner life gets good. It just takes a couple years to have “options” With a forecast of 600 to be hired this year, I would not wait. You can’t go back for more seniority Flat pay isn’t great ...
