Re: 737 to 787 Upgrade Times

You forgot overseas and nav pay of $12 & $11 respectively at AC... At most airlines, the AC term "overseas pay" and "nav pay" are called override pay (which was mentioned in my previous post) which could be a special international/special operational theatre override or night override pay etc. I pu...

Re: Days worked

Ok I’ll bite. My first year I was taking home $1600 on one check and $1400 on the other. That was while doing 20% esp. zero overtime. I’m lazy AF. The key here and most people don’t seem to understand this for some reason is to reduce your taxes at source and put your ESP into a RRSP. There you go. ...

Re: One List

Well from what I am seeing not having the one list will defiantly hurt a mainline pilots career, and here is how. Swoop just signed a deal with Sunwing, this is a trial for whats to come, Swoop seemingly wants all of Sunwings pax so they won't have to hire a European charter outfit to come to Canad...

I can tell you one thing. Moving forward I’ll only vote for a BOTL transfer agreement. Anything else is a complete mess just like the One List turned into. Should never have been anything other than BOTL.

Re: Did Encore MEC insist on no back flow?

Hangar fits a 787 and at least 1 737... seen it myself That’s good to know. Anyway I wasn’t saying I believed the rumour, I was trying to clarify what the rumour actually was. Ok maybe I believed it a little. After all it certainly sounds like something they would do over at the head shed, or Cryst...

Re: Did Encore MEC insist on no back flow?

The rumour was that the Dreamliner was supposed to fit in there with 1 or 2 737’s at the same time and that they screwed up so it can only fit 1 Dreamliner alone. We’ll never know but it sure sounds like another “flawless execution” from the head shed.

Re: What can a Q4 experienced DEC earn at Encore?

Hello, have bags of expat Q4 DEC time - What is Encore offering salary/benefits for Q4 DEC? If you don’t want to post, please PM me. I am already back in Canada and working another job and I’m interested in the Encore DEC job so I wouldn't mind knowing what they are offering in the first year salar...

Re: Pension

New plan. It’s been said that the new plan can yield even more $$$ in retirement than the DB plan if you have the right career progression. I’d say people now that join young and upgrade quickly will make out like bandits in retirement from the TB plan. The DB plan is deader than disco and will neve...

Re: Future of Canada's Airline Industry

You need to ask yourself a serious set of questions. Do you want to make money? Do you want to have a family? Do you want to have a social life? Do you want to be able to make your own choices? If you have answered yes to any of these, you should consider banking. The aviation industry is booming r...

Re: OTS WesJet Mainline FO

I’m still anxious that the corp will find a loophole to wriggle out of YOS. How would they find a loophole? Wasn’t it part of the contract? We have a few items that are written clear as day that the Corp simply ignores or reads differently. Somebody at the crystal palace has decided to quite simply...

Re: One List

I have been getting so much conflicting information that I wanted to ask those who actually voted down the one list. Why did you vote it down? What can we do at Encore to alleviate your concerns? How would you want it fixed? Well in regards to the “what can we at Encore do” question, nothing plain ...

Re: Swoop Pilot Open House & Info Session

Read again and read the whole thing! Air Canada started Rouge which caused WestJet to respond by Swoop. Air Canada constantly chases the lower end of the market creating new carriers and pitting the smaller carriers against one another in order to drive down the bid for CPA for instance. Dude, you’...

Re: OTS WesJet Mainline FO

They don’t look for loopholes, they just flat out won’t abide by the contract and will push it as long as they can until forced by either a negotiated MOS or the arbitrator himself...that could take another couple months to accomplish so as far as company is concerned it’s a win. Meanwhile the pilot...

Re: Westjet FO Encore Ad Gone?

ahkhamza, Encore is not the fastest path to WJ mainline, if you look at the newer OTS hires at mainline. The only people who have to wait 5 years are the Encore fellas. I know of many getting in at WJ mainline without any 705 time Encore has been an excellent stepping stone to AC these past few yea...

Re: ONEX plans

There’s no sentiment that the JV will bring in some major change or allow us to eat Delta pilots lunches. Simply an incremental increase in flying done smartly. That’s all. Some people have had pie in the sky dreams of leadership from Delta coming in or Delta buying a huge chunk of WJ but those were...

If onex wants to play hardball with the pilots, we will just play hardball back. Just like before. I belive onex will accelerate growth and sell company via IPO in 5-10 years. Espp plan has been announced for all westjetters except pilots. Pilots are negotiating through alpa team. The replacement p...

Re: ONEX plans

Droptanks, I agree that those pilots that were holding a lot of 18$ shares have a windfall at 31$. However, that may be a fleeting one time event. If Onex, decides to play hardball on salaries, what are the options for WJ pilots? Widebody expansion, which the optimistic are heavily relying on,canno...

It has formed a percentage of overall compensation since the inception of WJ. Some have done extremely we...

Re: ONEX plans

It’s very simple really. Just sign a sweetheart CPA deal with Encore thus giving Encore guaranteed income for years raising its value. Sell it off. Count your $$$ while WJ is saddled with a high cost CPA for years. Swoop is a big ? As well as a festering pus-filled tumor. Somebody might just be dumb...
