Helicopter to airline world
Just doing some fishing here. I'm a 4000+ hour helicopter pilot. With an ATPL(h) and 2000 of those hours in a ME/IFR multi crew environment. I have a FW CPL with 230 hours. So question is, does the airline world look favourably on helicopter guys/gals? I know I won't know until I try, but will my re...

Runway NOTAM'd closed...can an IA still be conducted
Hey there ATC people. If a runway is NOTAMED closed, can an instrument approach still be conducted? Precision or Non-Precision?
We are talking helicopter here....ie not landing on the closed runway, but breaking off to adjacent taxi.

This is one of the top flight schools in the world for helicopters, located in Penticton. http://canadianhelicopters.com/services/flight-training/hnz-topflight/ And what is your point, Ray, in the context of a discussion on renting a helicopter after training? And what's your point cncpc? In the co...

Weather was good.
IFR trips aren't done from this base as CYTS is the closest alternative, and the required amount can't be carried.

Re: Ornge Sikorsky Air ambulance accident Northern Ontario
On a black hole takeoff, how much altitude do you require before turning? Thats not really THE issue. Of course you should be well above things you can hit, but the really important part is to MAINTAIN A POSITIVE RATE OF CLIMB!! A turn at 500 feet AGL will kill you really fast, if in the turn you a...

Re: Ornge Sikorsky Air ambulance accident Northern Ontario
On a black hole takeoff, how much altitude do you require before turning? If they fully adopted CHLs SOPs, black hole departure would read "no turns till passing trough 500 agl" Nothing specific on the landing light. Which, like any SOP, doesn't address the "real world". How would you handle the st...

Re: Mazza FIRED. Orgne in receivership
FL280 is correct. The new Ornge boss did an about face on Wednesday. They are continuing with the transfer of the rotor-wing. Why? He may have been "told" by the Minister's office or he is getting bad information from his staff trying to save their jobs. (I am talking about senior staff still there...

Re: Mazza FIRED. Orgne in receivership
Well actually CHL isn't getting any sort of extension, Ornge has decided to continue with the base transitions and take all of the rotor operations in house. There will be no tender on this, it'll stay In Ornge and continue to do so. uummmm did something change in the last 3 days? Ontario’s air amb...

He'll be on the ramp. Unless you're showing up as a turnkey captain, there's little chance of getting away without loading a few bags.
But I've never worked there....
Tell him to apply and see what they offer?
