Re: Grievance update for the 285ish former Jazz pilots affected by Flow
I like the idea mentioned earlier of giving all the jazz pilots a "virtual" seniority number equivalent to what they should have gotten, and forcing AC to pay them for the highest paying position that number could hold for the rest of their career. Doesn't matter what they actually hold, they could ...

Re: Is Mr Jones Lying to everyone?
Haha I just read that article as well, " The balance sheet is not in great shape. " Did this guy get drunk before this interview?? What a wild article, and such weird timing after a month of 90% load factors and the end of swoop you would think Flair would be bragging about a light at the end of the...

Haha, good ol avcanada. Person asks a simple question, First response: YOU SOUND NICE. Second response: HAVE YOU TRIED SENDING OUT RESUMES? Third response: DID YOU KNOW THEY PUT JOB ADS ONLINE NOW??? Let me see if I can be slightly more helpful. I did my road trip exactly 10 years ago, so I can’t sa...

Wow, currently 68% of avcanadians have had their first dose, and Google is telling me 65% of the general public have had a first dose. I dunno if I’m impressed or depressed by the fact that people on this site might accurately represent average Canadians.

Ya AC has got the feds right where they want them now. Trudeau does NOT want to see transat go bankrupt, but also does NOT want to bail out airlines. Either outcome has benefits to AC.

Re: Potential Airline Bailout
I dunno guys, airlines over the last 20 years have slowly been turning all of their public good will into profit. Smaller seats, charging for bags, charging for everything. We all grumbled about it but when it came time for profit sharing no one complained. I cant help but think this is simply the c...

I finnally got the call! I interviewed back in June, and got the "12 month" letter. Got a Jan.7th start day! It was helpful for me to see on this thread when others had interviewed and gotten their PIT courses, so I thought I would do the same.

Re: Flair buys Newleaf
I've also flown with new leaf three times now, and had a good experience each time. Ive noticed that not only does new leaf charge on average half as much as air canada and westjet on the routes that it flys, but air canada and westjet are matching new leaf prices. But they only match prices on the ...

Re: 500hrs milestone
Ive now met three pilots that quit their jobs, one with 500 hrs and the other two with 1000-1200 hours, with the belief that one of these navajo jobs/king air FO jobs would be super easy to get. All three had a very hard time, two ended up taking jobs as dispatchers in order to get in line for a kin...

Poll: Best Company - Pacific
I am actually kind of curious if this will work. In the Best Company forum, a bunch of people are discussing what is the best company in each region of Canada, and all the many many factors that make a company the best for different people. I think it really just boils down to what company you want ...

Re: Best Company
I think the only way your actually gonna get a clear answer is if you make a forum for each province, and have a survey with every company listed in that province, and have us all vote. Maybe have it so you could vote for 3 companies in each province. It would be a lot of work to put together, but w...

Re: Personality a Setback?
What I've learned in this career is that in order to be anti social as a pilot, you actually need to try to be anti social everyday. What I'm saying is you don't need to be super outgoing to make friends as a pilot, you just have to not say no everytime someone at work invites you out for drinks or ...

New Economist Pilot shortage article

Says a lot of the same things that other articles have said, but it has a nice happy ending. I find the economist usually has a nice way of cutting through the bull.

Re: IFR flight itinerary
In order for a controller to issue a clearance he needs flight plan data in the "system" hence the filing of IFR itins with an FIC prior to flight. If the itin is filed with company, the controller has no data so some kind of airfile would be required to get a clearance. Once again, personal operat...

Re: IFR flight itinerary
This is a good post, because I had the same confusion as the OP, and basically figured it out the same way everyone else does, by getting the "WTF is this guy talking about" voice from ATC, and then air filing a flight plan. One of those situations where what the rules clearly say is allowed, is not...

It looks like for more then a couple flights that new leaf does they are cutting the price by more then half of what AC and WJ are charging. I can't say much about their business plan, but Im pretty sure those planes are gonna be full at those prices. I think a whole new group of people that wouldn'...

Re: Mobile App Brainstorming Please
I would love to see a well done NOTAM app, where you can enter an entire area of Canada into the app and it spits out a list of NOTAMs for that area that you can easily refresh, and then gives you alerts when new NOTAMs pop up in your selected area. Shouldn't be too hard and I would pay money to not...

Carhartt insulated winter bib pants is what I used to carry around while winter flying... Easy to put on and take off, weren't too hot in the plane but worked damn well in -30 degree weather. Winter Flight Suit
I was looking at buying one of these thinsulate lined flight suits for the winter, does anyone have any experience with these? Im mostly worried that it will become uncomfortably warm once the plane warms up, but any reviews or comments are appreciated. http://www.shop.flightsuits.ca/THINSULATE-POLY...
