Re: Most important Ruling in Canadian aviation history:

All you whining broken records who keep spouting off about this subject are in serious need of a reality check. Pilots WORLWIDE are now working to 65. Why should Canada or the ‘Chosen Ones’ at AC be any different? Ask any Lufthansa, British Airways or American Airlines pilot how this has changed the...

Re: The hiring engine is getting fired up!

Good news for all those back home in Canada. I am sure WJ will continue hiring as well.

Over here in Europe there are large rumblings of recruitment all around. British Airways is advertising for pilots as of Oct 1st.

Movement again!!!

Re: AC Staffing Comparisons

Let’s not also forget that Swiss is in fact a new carrier. It rose out of the ashes of Swissair less than a decade ago. Options, options and more options. I am sure that if you look at the numbers at Brussels Airlines vs Sabena and the old Olympic Airlines vs the new Olympic it would show a similar ...

Given Air Canada's aggressive objections to Emirates flying in to Canada, will they protest against Virgin America doing the same?

Re: Air Canada A321 at Toronto on Feb 22nd 2010, landed without

Those that give you are hard time for confirming a clearance is not doing anyone, let alone themselves any favours. This is clearly childish and unprofessional behaviour. I had a controller at LHR actually thank me for confirming a cleared level on departure. In his words he wished more people would...

Re: No more Age 60 forced Retirement at Air Canada ???

Nice one Tony. You again ignore the facts and head straight to the fiction section. You should be working for FOX News. Our carrier simply asked ANY employee to take a week or two off through the winter (you know this one in the middle of the biggest downturn post war). The key word here is asked. T...

Without a question one of the best, if not the best posts I have read on this forum. Bravo. (Turbo Beaver) You guys have bigger fish to fry than your colleagues. These big fish are called airline management. Take the advice of turbo beaver and look where the real threat to your careers is coming fro...

If I was WJ, I would lend it to AC at a rate of say 16-18% per annum and ask to use half the embryo fleet as collateral.

Either way they come out a winner.

Re: A Posting on PPrune I thought was Interesting...

Lapse, Anyone that assumes any carrier will survive the mother of all recessions is fooling themselves. The simple fact is that those going into recession with large capital reserves and a workable business plan are more likely to survive. BA ended the year with $2.5 billon (CAD) in reserves. I am g...

These are carriers that were making £900ish ($1.7) billion a year ago.

Big drop, but my money says those with the big stacks of cash do ok during the down times.

Your point?

Lufthansa has been more than 'Kicking the tires' of a few operations in the last couple of years and is up to their eye balls in debt that came along with their acquisitions. The German economy is shrinking much faster than predicted and my money says the safe german business practices that built Lu...

Re: Grim Prospects

The cut backs by the American carriers last year was a good move. The real saviour though was the rapid drop in oil price as many did not have the credit to hedge their fuel. Had it stayed over $100 a can, our CEO reckons 2 major US airlines (among others) would have been gone at this point. We are ...

Re: Emirates Announces Large Scale Growth Plans for 2009

I believe typically foreign carriers have never succeeded flying passengers from one nation to another through their home nation when they were not that nations carrier. Am I wrong about this? I think you will find that there are carriers in Europe and Asia that have successfully made money doing e...

Gents, The new runway which is 20 years overdue will be north of the field and parallel to the others. It will also include Terminal 6. It is slated to be done by 2020 but the government wants it done by 2015. The Conservatives say they will axe it if they are elected in 2 years. Either way it is st...

Guys, Tony, I suggest you have a look at load factor vs YIELD etc and then factor in COSTS to see why this is heading the way it is. With a whopping nearing 3000 posts between the two of you, many are negative towards WJ and their 'Apparent Success'. I have got better things to do than point them al...

Tony, First off ease up on the whisky, and settle down you big idiot. YYCflywhatever was taking shots at WJ (like you do) and I was merely pointing out that they are just doing fine. In fact they are performing better than most expected. This is FACT. They are rapidly eating away at North American m...

WJ can call their customers whatever the hell they want to be honest as they are clearly a world leader in how to run an airline. This is being recognised not only in North America but all over the world. Teaming up with the other 'Cowboys' seems to be a winning combination as well, as they happen t...

Re: WestJet and Mokulele announce partnership

Tony, I am just saying that AC will not exist as it does now in say 5 years. It is safe to say that many carriers will not and that may include my own. Do I think the British/Canadian governments would let their flag carriers fold? The answer is yes. Only a fool would think that they would have the ...
