Re: Murphy Rebel Crash BC
The TSB report is out, and it's unbelievable: https://www.tsb.gc.ca/eng/rapports-reports/aviation/2024/a24p0054/a24p0054.html IMC with no instrument rating, the pilot declined a weather briefing, the aircraft's journey log hadn't had an entry in two years, and it was 94 days overdue for its annual i...

Re: WB FO Hire?
In the triumph of collectivist aviation, Canada’s airlines have abolished the corrupting influence of skill, experience, and ambition! No longer shall pilots be judged by their ability—only by their years of loyal service to the system. At WestJet, the mighty 787 Dreamliner is reserved for the most...

You said this: now ignoring this thread and then posted five more times, so it's hard to believe that you've written anything with any sincerity. Tell me without telling me you haven’t been to a GTA ER lately. No, I haven't, because I don't live in Ontario. You do know that a lot of people in this c...

Re: Who Funds Medevac flights?
I once performed a transfer for a walk-on patient to fly him down south for a scan, and then waited around to fly him home again. It seemed like a massive waste of resources, but while I was chatting with the medics they said that the alternative was to put him on a sched flight, put him up in a hot...

The US launched their sixth-generation program in 2008, and announced that it flew in 2020. Other programs are in development by Japan, the UK, and a consortium of France, Germany, and Spain. The only people who think the West has been caught with its pants down just haven't been paying attention.

The liberal's will continue to give out our tax money to their buddies in Ottawa, next election when Pierre Poilievre becomes the next prime minister I hope he cancels the contract with Skyalyne and it's bureaucrats who are not pilots and know zero about military training. 11.2 billion should be in...

Re: Encore Pilots Lose Reserved Seniority
Encore with pilots isn't worth anything. They have 35 turboprops that no one else would buy, and no other assets. They don't have their own maintenance, dispatch, hangars, or sims. The sole value in the company after an IPO would be in the revenue provided by a CPA with WestJet, and I don't think an...

Re: Dominoes...|/
For some reason, many of you are giving the previous CPC government a lot of undeserved credit for military development and procurement that more often proved to be a fiasco. https://www.journal.forces.gc.ca/vol16/no2/page75-eng.asp t is also supremely ironic that the only new-construction naval pro...

Re: Dominoes...|/
I think your memory of events is skewed! Trudeau cancelled the program and now is spending nearly the same amount for a quarter of the aircraft, and the budget will balance itself! Harper cancelled it first. From rookie's own article: The Conservatives announced an agreement in principle in 2010 to...

Re: Dominoes...|/
But hey, why let facts stand in the way of blatant partisanship. I mean, the last CPC government cut the military budget by $4 billion between 2011 and 2014, at which time it was $1.5 billion less than it had been in 2008. They also signed a contract for the F-35, then backed out of it and delayed ...

Ungrateful? Not sure what SWG pilots should be grateful of. The right to bargain next month was taken away hence pay raise opportunity and contract improvements gone. deployments are gone, SWG pilots will now operate under a contract that is at the same time marginally better and worse in different...

We buy 30 year old submarines that don’t float from the UK. We have f-18s flying across the country from bagotville to cold lake pretending like they do things. We have Hercules aircraft looking for a ELT signal from a training airport. Well great news then! The CAF put out an RFP for new submarine...

Re: When are swoop planes getting painted?
If they can't paint the swoop planes, imagine how long the Sunwing planes are going to be flying around in their current livery with "Operated by WestJet" stickers on the side. Same with the acquired Lynx aircraft. The Lynx aircraft were prioritized for repainting, and I believe they have now all b...

This is just a return to mean. You've completely ignored what I wrote above: Transat is completely dropping three routes next summer, without adding anything new. They're increasing some frequencies, but also reducing others, so those balance out, and it isn't apparent that there's anything to repl...

I’m not as convinced as you are regarding FA layoffs causing a sharp decline in bookings. They’ve always laid off a certain amount, albeit this year is considerably higher. People will book vacations regardless and roll the dice. Travel insurance companies will probably do well this year. https://w...

They're increasing some frequencies, but also reducing others, so those balance out, and it isn't apparent that there's anything to replace the dropped routes. The hypothesis that they're giving up North American r...

Personally I think YOW is just too small a market for a 189 seat jet except for seasonal markets, likely the E2 is more well suited and PD will become the big player there to the surprise of no one. Fascinating... As of 2021, Ottawa had a city population of 1,017,449 and a metropolitan population o...

Flair hasn't added a tail since the four were repossessed in March 2023. I'm pretty sure Boeing built a lot of 737s in the intervening period, even if you consider the slowdowns in 2024.

You should also throw in some of the many, many posts from people stating with absolute certainty that flat pay would be gone and FO salaries would double, so everyone should be applying at AC to get their seniority numbers as soon as possible.

Where are all the guys who were insulting WestJet and Encore pilots for not striking? Where is everyone who was adamant that all Canadian pilots should be applying at AC because flat pay was going away and wages were doubling? Can we get a compilation of all those hot takes?

Re: BEWARE $30,000 BOND FOR 3 YRS
I can't see anyone buying an airline that has almost $750 million in debt and doesn't own any of its own aircraft. The total assets they own is about $40 million worth of real estate. Porter would be better off waiting for them to shut down and then picking up their aircraft from the lessors than th...
