Re: DEC

This is very interesting. I have an application in with Jazz. I have my ATPL and lots of MPIC turbine time. Over 3000 hours total time. Assuming I get called, what sort of scenario could play out for my first few months? I have literally no idea how the seniority or bidding or how anything in the 70...

Re: Best medevac schedules?

This is an interesting topic. The best schedule that I have heard of (IMHO) is Carson Air out of Kelowna which is 5 on 5 off but the 5th day is on call and by the sounds of it, you don't get called in very often. So very often, you are 4 on and 6 off. And its all daytime flying. The least appealing ...

Re: On-Call/Charter flight time limitations

Thanks for the input. I had always assumed that once you were on-call then you went with those limitations. Can get pretty complicated but as mentioned this probably isn't a very common scenario.

On-Call/Charter flight time limitations

I am sure I have seen a post about this before but can't find the thread. For a pilot who flies a mixture of on-call days and scheduled charter days, what is the limitation on flight hours? The CARS limits an on-call pilot to 100 hours per 30 consecutive days. But if you were flying a mixture of on-...

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread

Thanks for the replies all. I suppose I may be getting carried away thinking that I could have a chance in a year or two but browsing through this thread I don't think its impossible. With the hiring amounts seemingly continuing there is certainly hope for a lot of us who thought we were years and y...

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread

I've been slowly reading through this thread lately trying to learn as much as possible about AC. I am not all the way through but have a question relating to a current opportunity. I have been interviewed for two different positions and am curious which one is the more likely to appeal to AC in the...

Re: Float planes in middle east

Hey All, I am hoping to get some updated information about float flying in the ME. Just wondering if anyone knows the current requirements, pay and if they still hire Canadians? Are there any gigs that would be a good fit for a young family or is this better for single pilots? I have traveled extens...

Re: Training Bond issues

Would a verbal contract not be valid? If I agreed to one employment situation and then that agreement was altered, wouldn't I have the right to agree or disagree with the alternate?
I am required to stay for 12 months with each month taking a 1/12th off the total owed.

Re: Training Bond issues

Maybe a thread drift but I am curious if a pilot has the right to leave a bond if the company changed the employment after the bond was signed? I was interviewed and hired as an FO with the idea that I would fly single engine SPIFR occasionally. I already had lots of single engine PIC time and wante...

Thanks for the replies.
So often I find the CARS have many grey areas and can be interpretted in different ways.

Cheers

Thanks Photofly,

I'd say that answered my question. Seems they can ask if it's related to the aviation business.

Re: TC rights

No reason why we wouldn't want them to see them that I can think of. I don't deal with the finances. I just thought it was a weird request and beyond their jurisdiction. I am new to the business so wasn't sure if that was common practice. Seems to me its sort of like the CRA asking to see your logbo...

TC rights

Just curious if TC can ask for your company financial information? I overheard one of our office staff say that last time TC came through they asked for our invoicing from flights we had done. Is that within their rights? I would think not but maybe I don't know the true extent of their powers haha.

Foreflight sharing

A couple of us were talking today about buying a Foreflight subscription. We noticed you can use one subscription on 2 ipads. That has us wondering if 2 pilots could share one subscription? If we were to create a company Apple ID and then use that on our iPads, would that work. The Foreflight websit...

Re: Safety and newbies

This was a question I asked myself often in my first job. They way I learned about flying during my training was in sharp contrast with how things were run at my new company. I struggled with knowing whether the flying I was asked to do was unsafe or whether it was simply uncomfortable because it wa...
