Thanks for all of the input and guidance. Many things were items I had not considered. Having XPlane sounds like I have part of the puzzle. I will track down someone local to get me started with it so I am not building bad habits.
Thank you
Regards,
Shawn

Re: Typical IFR training
Thanks CpnCrunch. I do have X-Plane and used it for the CPL. It did help. I will set it up and do some scenarios on it.

Typical IFR training
What is the typical amount of hours in plane to get an IFR rating? I know it is a difficult question, dependent on many factors but wondering if those that have worked with several candidates could put a number range out there....? I have, technically, enough IFR "hours" I believe, in my book, but a...

Re: 300NM CPL requirment
This has been discussed more than once here. When I did my CPL a few years ago, I had moved a couple of planes back and forth to Southern Ontario, so had the trips in my book. But it was just under a PPL. Because it seems to be a debatable topic, and I, like anyone asking this question, wanted a def...

Re: Is Buttonville Holding a Farewell Event?
This article says they are starting to tear up some of the runways this week but there are still aircraft there? WTF? Will owners be pulling their wings off to truck them out? Are the remaining ones owned by an estate? I wonder how accurate that statement is. Anyone live around Buttonville? How has ...

Re: Aerocourse IFR
Thanks bwgilchrist I think this would have been a lot to cram into a weekend course. We were told that this virtual format, spread over 2 weekends, allows more time, of course, to cover all of the material, and I like that we have a week in between to come up with questions or review what I did not ...

Re: Spraying Work wanted 2021
Sorry Co-Joe. I missed your answer. Thanks for replying. I did contact the Aerial Sprayers association and they gave me some names of companies that do the training. Yes, 18K. There are a couple of schools (MB and SK) The person replying to me did say that they are "always looking for pilots " ... s...

Re: Spraying Work wanted 2021
Are there certifications or specialized training courses for aerial spraying? It sounds like an interesting job. Is it something done only at a certain point in the growing season ie spring, mid season? What is the smallest plot that would be sprayed? I live in a bit of an agricultural area but have...

It probably depends on your questions and expected input. Lots of experience here. Throw them out there and see what happens.

Re: 300 nm CPL cross country
I asked this same question here a couple years ago when I was preparing for my CPL. I received similar answers. I also received 2 different answers from different T/C offices. And, speaking with different CPL's, each had different scenarios, some did it before starting their CPL training and some af...

Re: Insurance
Since I asked, I figure I would reveal what I found. Only 2 of 3 quotes back, 3200 each roughly, after taxes. Magnes and Global. 2-5 hour instructor time needed before passengers. 60K value. It sounds about what I have been hearing from others. Still waiting on March but their online silverwings quo...

Re: Insurance
Bede Van's RV4 I went through my log book, actually, 16 hours. 6+ of that instruction, the rest in my J3 when I had it. I was anxious to get it back on floats, but in hindsight, I should have logged much more while I easily could have. I sent out a couple of applications. Waiting to hear. I might sk...

Hi all I am looking at buying another aircraft after not owning for a few years. I heard the pricing has gone up quite a bit. I am looking for suggestions on insurance companies/brokers. I did get one quote from magnes for a previous aircraft but need to go get another one from them for this new mod...

Home built documentation
Hi guys With regards to home built aircraft, are technical logs required or is maintenance entries in a journey log adequate? I looked through CAR's today and found an excerpt saying that tech logs are required but could not determine if it applied to home builts. The guys I know with home builts se...

Re: Cherokee 140 near Sioux Lookout
Interesting....the aviation-safety-net link above says it is a Warrior 161. Everything I see in T/C is a 140. Does not matter in the end, ie, still a Cherokee and still 4 lives lost. The Warrior has a slightly larger gross weight and larger engine so how does a reporter or safety reporter get that k...
