Re: Fast Air Medevac Crash Bloodvein last night - 2nd in 2016

Who said anything about it going off the end? The article and statements say it left the runway after rejecting due to runway conditions. Negative castor or nose gear hard over... Who knows. A plane can leave a runway way before a go/ no go decision point.

Re: BA A380 diverted to vancouver smoke in the cabin.

if memory serves, the runway length is just the beginning. My initial thought was wtf, yyc is right there. The duty manager at ywg once explained to me that although their runway was long enough, the taxi way angles (and even the signs) would have to be redesigned/replaced for a 380 to land. Howver,...

Re: Intersection take offs with Encore's Q400

This is the dumbest conversation I've seen in a while. So we're gonna fret because they "leave half the runway behind them" , when that runway is 11000' long?! If you had any idea what he Q400 can do you'd be having a laugh along with me and everyone else who flew into and out of the Island with it...

Re: Perimeter aviation vs transwest air? Help

Where does this mind set of "i work on the ramp I am entitled to a flying job" come from? Perimeter has never done bad to anyone who worked hard, and prepared for their flight line check. Beer pong and using your company provided study material as coasters will NOT get you a flight line job and that...

Re: Encore pilots…..5 yr deal?

The only way this "your company is bringing the industry down" bickering is ever going to stop is if we all remember that although we work for different companies now, we all started our ppl with the same goal and hopes of being hired by a national carrier one day. I think pilots of all the regional...

Re: Encore pilots…..5 yr deal?

That is simply not true. Every new hire is told the guarantee is 70 and that is what they sign up for when signing the offer of employment.

Re: Encore pilots…..5 yr deal?

How do you figure we voted for a pay decrease? We had a 70 hour guarantee and now we have a 75. There was a temporary 80 hour guarantee in place as the schedules were not up to full efficiency. The average monthly block is now in the 75 hour range. With change to stat pay, deadhead pay and open shif...

Re: Encore pilots…..5 yr deal?

Some people have to give their head a shake here and look at the picture beyond their self portrait. Yes we all want 100 flow. It isn't going to happen right away and as a Encore pilot, I don't want it to. I don't want my company losing 100 pilots per year when we only have ~300 and relatively low e...

It's finally happening

I am becoming one of the high percentage victimized by male pattern balding... ahhh Anyone on here a user of that fancy Rogaine foam? I ask because being in an aerosol bottle it has those fancy little warning labels on it about being explosive etc. CATSA website says hair spray is allowed which I th...

Re: WestJet Mainline/Encore Hiring pool

Would like to start compiling experiences from poolies re: HR treatment. Not really sure where you plan on going with that. Being placed in a pool (in any industry) is not an offer of employment by any means. Companies are not obligated to hire you. I remember being told straight up that in the eve...

Re: Keystone Navajo Accident in Thompson

I once had th fueller at this airport put my fuel order in one aircraft, and their fuel order on mine. I was on the heavy side so figured they were under fuelled with my order. I ran over to make sure the crew took a second look before firing up.

Re: WestJet Mainline/Encore Hiring pool

I imagine it varies greatly, but how long are folks typically waiting to hear about their application at Encore? Is there any indication in your profile if they have decided not to pursue your application further? Last year when I applied without my ATPL I was very quickly told I didn't meet their ...

given your attitude id say it's quite likely if anyone at the company knows you, you have a nice big pile of negative reviews on you file. Good luck.

Re: Encore pay question.

Not blocked at 80. I'd say the average is 70 right now. We are guaranteed 80 hours of pay. Any changes we make to our schedule are worked off of the 80. So if I am blocked 70 hours, and they call me on a day off I would get paid for 84 hours not 74. (Min daily credit for day off is 4).

Re: What are stupid things that pilots do that bug you?

If ATC doesn't answer it usually means they are "on the other line" with another controller. As a pilot, the thing I find most annoying is pilots who switch to the freq and instantly transmit without taking a few seconds to see whats going on. That and pilots who call ATC when they have just given a...

Re: What are stupid things that pilots do that bug you?

YYZ Tower perspective: Changing frequencies before being told to do so on both ground and tower; would you change enroute? From a pilots perspective this is actually a little more complex then you would imagine depending on which airport you are at (in Canada). Some examples so you know why this mi...

Re: Saretsky's legacy

The WPPA guys want to stop at nothing short of Encore being rolled into WS. No separate company & OC. Their feeling is that if it's ok for the wide body guys, it should be fine for Encore too. One list with different pay scales, but ultimately one company. . How do you feel about this now given the...

I think all aviation products should have (in brackets), next to rnav waypoints, the pronunciation that the person creating them thought at the time was right.

Re: Overdue Cargo Airplane Bound for CYXS

There was a metro 2 a year or two a go that suffered an elevator cable (failure) as the crew was touching down. They lost complete control of the elevator. had it happened a few minutes earlier, I predict a similar kind of rapid decent. It was never investigated outside of the company due to it not ...
