Re: DOH merge.
The individual cost for a junior AC guy would be around 5-6 years of upper end seniority decades down the road. If the average retiring rate is ~100 guys/year, that's 5-6 years for 500-600 Transat pilots ahead. Then take those 5 years at captain salary of say $300,000 and that yields $1.5M dollars ...

It wasn't AT pilot's choice but it also wasn't AC pilot's choice either. If the AT guys get DOH, that makes YOU BOTL haha. Someone will be BOTL

Re: DOH merge.
You'll probably lose about $2 million dollars for a 5 year set back plus 5 years of junior schedules (5 years of 777CA pay plus 5 years of juniorCA pay differential..roughly). That's the cost to you for it being fair. Air Canada and Transat aren't even the same level of operation. I can see a AC & W...

Re: DOH merge.
I think it's complete garbage that they should get DOH or any advantage over an AC guy on property today. Seniority is FAR more important than status or pay for some. Especially with commuters - how will the pass travel be affected? Lifestyle with a block could turn into hell on reserve. Send the AT...

Re: FO taxiing
Also a valid point ^ Many times the FO can have more experience on type than the Capt. Could have a senior, high-time and experienced FO sitting for lifestyle with a junior brand new Capt. Just because there's 3 stripes on their shoulder DOES NOT immediately rule them out as capable or trustworthy, ...

Re: FO taxiing
I've sat in both seats and can say without a doubt that working with a self-righteous air god makes for the WORST work week. Bad FOs are just as likely as bad Capts. But when these bad Capts are so concerned about their own skin, it makes for a downright dangerous cockpit. CRM is crucial, and yes, t...

Re: The next contract
Key word - by the END of their career. Meanwhile most guys are making far less at the beginning and missing out on capital growth for all those years to attain that level of salary. Cash in hand is far more valuable early on.

Re: FO taxiing
By that logic, how do these captains trust ANYTHING the FOs do? If you can fly the airplane, you can taxi the airplane. Then a caveat exists, which it does in all flight regimes, to allow the captain to take control (or the FO take control from the captain) [obviously all company SO...

Re: AC New hires please use your WB bid
If they changed the pay on the first 4 years to be more or modified flat pay to 2 years, would they retroactively pay those who did the full 4? Otherwise I don't see those guys passing their vote. That's not really how it it works. And if those people vote no, they're hypocrites. If Jazz all of a s...

Re: Pet Peeves?
No smartass the 1000 plus to go from las to yyc this week. No one goes to the lovely places you posted this the price and especially that pairing. So the places people don't want to go are cheap, and the places people do want to go are expensive. Isn't that supply-and-demand? Why would an airline c...
