Re: Floatplane pilots

Maybe they should try looking for float pilots that are not interested in spending the entire summer in the middle of nowhere for the entire summer.

Rotational schedule anybody? Training costs are not a lot for a floatplane so it is different than the expensive type ratings of airlines.

Re: When you're "cleared" but not CLEAR. Multiple Incursions

After issuing landing clearances to an occupied runway, there are now take off clearance for occupied runways! Funny how so many miss out on some sarcastic humour. Yeah... some *fantastic* sarcastic humour if I may be so bold . I have been told that here are BOLD pilots. How old are you?

Re: When you're "cleared" but not CLEAR. Multiple Incursions

JFK controllers are all over any pilot making the smallest error(or it seems that way on youtube) with their sarcastic remarks but no acknowledgement when they clear 4 aircraft to cross the runway while a pilot is taking off.

Re: The Positive Control Check

One final not about the Positive Control Check(PCC). A glider pilot I know got airborne with one aileron not hooked up. He had a PCC done but only in 6 directions instead of 8. After all, if one aileron passes the test, doesn’t that guarantee that the other aileron is rigged properly? Now you know t...

Re: The Positive Control Check

From ASRS…… During the annual inspection of the Cessna 188, I removed a clevis bolt that secures the upper and lower elevator control cables to the control stick. I found the bolt to be excessively worn, so the cables remained detached while a replacement bolt was on order. When the new clevis bolt ...

The Positive Control Check

Controls free and correct. Isn’t that what you ensure is the situation when you do the control check? But what does correct mean? Usually, on your typical GA aircraft, it means that you have observed that the controls are moving in the proper direction. To be honest, they almost certainly will be. A...

Re: Forgot to Extend the Gear Thread

A few years ago I was test flying a very well equipped 185 amphib. It had a lidar system for gear warning which was new to me. It "knew" if the plane was over land or water, before warning - interesting... I would speak a preflight self test before takeoff. Thereafter, I noticed it was silent. It d...

Re: Forgot to Extend the Gear Thread

OMNR again..... C-FOEW, de Havilland DHC0-2 MK3 (Turbo Beaver), equipped with amphibious floats and operated by the Province of Ontario, Ministry of Natural Resources, was on a Pilot Competency Check (PCC) flight with two pilots on board. After completing training, which included water landings and ...

Re: How the PM stole freedom

After observing 80% of the population fallen for the covid scam, nothing surprises me anymore. Canadians will believe ANYTHING that has fear or nice hair. Canada is lost. Time to emigrate. Just where is the question. humans are stupid everywhere.... I do believe your last statement. Unfortunately, ...

Cessna 170 Crash

From TSB(using Google Translate).... C-FZHI, a privately operated Cessna 170 was conducting a visual flight rules flight. Sorel Airport, QC (CSY3) to Sainte-Hyacinthe Airport, QC (CSU3) with only the pilot on board. During final approach to CSU3, the aircraft crashed into a field located .35 NM from...

Tough Decision Making

From TSB.... C-GGTM, a Regina Flying Club Cessna 172N departed Regina International Airport (CYQR), SK, on a night visual flight rules rental flight to Saskatoon/John G. Diefenbaker International Airport (CYXE), SK, with a return to CYQR. During the return flight, in the vicinity of the community of...

Re: Don't Jump on the Brakes Unless Really Necessary

The devil is in the (somewhat lacking) details. Were they trying to avoid causing a taxiway incursion, or were they trying to avoid an aircraft that had pulled in front of them? There is nothing about another aircraft. I assume that they were advised to hold short of a taxiway. Just like a runway i...

(dba SkyCare Air Ambulance) Piper PA-31-350 was departing Big Trout Lake Airport (CYTL), ON, on a visual flight rules flight to Sioux Lookout Airport (CYXL), ON. During the application of power a...

Re: Hand swinging

When I used to handprop the old Champ on skis, the throttle was cracked open ever so slightly. Didn't have any problems. If it won't start and you get to the point of opening the throttle significantly, you need someone or something to restrain the aircraft. C-GHNC, a private Cessna 172M, was en ro...

Re: How will Immediate roadside prohibition affect career as an airline pilot ?

Alright folks, OP messed up and is big enough of a person to admit it and own up to it. That's more maturity than a lot of the posters throughout this forum in my opinion. And I doubt they'll be doing it again. All the best in your pursuit. Flying is a beautiful thing, and I hope you can keep your ...

Don't Jump on the Brakes Unless Really Necessary

To avoid an accident....OK(which is really rare). To avoid a taxiway incursion.....not a good idea. C-GENU, a WestJet Encore De Havilland DH8C-8-400, was operating as flight WEN3146 from Fort McMurray Airport (CYMM), AB, to the Calgary International Airport (CYYC), AB. While taxiing to the runway in...

From TSB...... PH-BKC, a Boeing 787-10, operated by KLM Royal Dutch Airlines as flight KLM204, was departing from Toronto / Lester B. Pearson International Airport (CYYZ), ON, and was holding short of runway 06L. Meanwhile, SP-LSB, a Boeing 787-9, operated by LOT Polish Airlines, as flight LOT 5E wa...
