Re: Taildragger Noseover/Groundloop Thread

From TSB.... C-FSEZ, a privately registered, amateur built, Murphy Moose was taxiing to depart Delta Heritage Air Park (CAK3), BC, on a local visual flight rules flight with the pilot and 1 passenger on board. During the taxi on the grass maneuver area, the aircraft nosed over with the left wing str...

Re: Poor condition of runway surfaces as a cause of plane crashes

There are tons of accidents and incidents related to runway condition. Unfortunately I don't think they are easily sorted this way. Go to the TSB and NTSB websites and just start searching through reports. I guess that just proves that my "Threads" on this forum organizing accidents by type(such as...

Re: Air France tailstrike

airbus uses a "Ground Speed Mini" function. https://www.smartcockpit.com/docs/A320-Ground_Speed_Mini_Function.pdf Since this took place after landing the wind does not appear to be a factor in the tailstrike. Pilots sometimes want pitch up to 15 degrees much too quickly on go-around. Perhaps it is ...

Re: Take-off Configuration after Type 4

It will definitely run off. Not instantly, but over a couple of mins the coverage won’t be sufficient on flaps and slats if precip is falling. I’ve had to go back to spray because the wind blew off the type 4 well before the high time limit. Thats why you leave the flaps/slats up until just before ...

Re: B747 Rating ?

It would be a heck of an experience. Flying the thing would be an experience. Sitting in a simulator reading emergency checklists isn't worth the bragging rights that will come with an asterisk. It is the ground handling where one really notices the difference from other jets. Just ask them to taxi...

From TSB.... C-GTSY, an amateur-built Just Aircraft Highlander, was conducting a local flight from a private grass airstrip approximately 4 nautical miles east-southeast of Langley Regional Airport (CYNJ), BC, with only the pilot onboard. While landing with a slight tailwind, aircraft nosed over aft...

Re: Newbie Pilot just received upfront training bond offer

A bond would make sense if the company paid the going interest rate on it. Then it would actually be an investment that paid off if you stayed for the length you assured the company you would when asking them to invest in you.

Re: Take-off Configuration after Type 4

For the aircraft I’ve flown, it is usually centred or within the takeoff range. Generally full up or down isn’t good as you will dump all the type 4 off the horizontal stab. Unless it’s an md 80 or something. Some set position at the gate, and some with the before takeoff checklist after deicing. I...

Re: BAe 146 Runway Overrun

The RJ is a good short field aircraft but relies solely on wheel braking to stop. Back in the day when I was a baggage handler, the BA 146 was an unpopular type to work on(as compared to the 737 and the big jets). They called the BA 146 the Bad Attitude. Maybe it is from the pilots point of view as...

Re: BAe 146 Runway Overrun

Scuttlebutt is the runway end was essentially 100% icy but the airport didn't seem to know about it so it was not reported to the crew. I see it is a 6000' runway. I wonder if it is realistic to ask for a runway condition report when you are in an aircraft like this. Might be an possible idea for p...

BAe 146 Runway Overrun

Re: Why haven't job sub sections been created??

I wouldn't expect a change. I suggested years ago not having the additional 705 airlines section the way it is with individual many small airlines as separate forums as they wouldn't get used, whereas, having them all together in one would have more traffic and therefore more posts. Nothing was done...

Re: B747 Rating ?

I think the SP is still around in PW. It's a way cool setup for engine testing. https://theaviationist.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/lg3.jpg I remember reading an article about GE testing their GE90 engine for the 777 on their own 747-200. It was extremely interesting about the VMCG considerations...
