Re: WestJet seeks to fly Boeing 737 jets from island airport
How is the whole paving 1000ft into a lake thing going for Porter? They should prepare to feel very uncomfortable in the next few months with Encore flying around their turf, and a train to Pearson. Better make another offer Deluce. Okay... Last I checked, WS is already serving the same markets tha...

Re: Question for Q drivers
You can taxi a Q400 with one in feather but no operator will do it . Simple reason is cost. Typical fuel savings with one in feather on the Dash 8 100 and 300 are good. Even better on the Q400, but due to the added torque and strain on the nose gear, the cost of repair and maintenance out weighs th...

Re: CSERIES First Flight
Personally I believe after things get sorted out and all the bugs worked out that it will also be a well loved jet by all parties. I think at the end of the day, the only parties who will end up hating the C-series are Airbus and Boeing. And two others: No Jets T.O. & Community Air

Re: Porter and the CSeries
As fanblade has shown above, there is plenty of reason to be highly skeptical of the numbers. I support Porter, but even as a CPL/IFR student, the published takeoff run/range numbers from BBD and Porter's plans to go as far as LAX seem unrealistic. That said, we are all assuming the plans are to go...

And thank you to the Peanut Gallery... Fanblade, et al, the quoted figures are for balanced field ops - straight from the CP. A lot of homework was done prior to this decision, we didn't just fall off the turnip truck you know! WRT Runway End Safety Areas, NPA 2010-012, is not exclusively EMAS systems (Engineered Materials Arresting Syst...

Re: Porter/Bombardier set to announce CS100 order . . .
If the runway is extended, I doubt the 737 Max or 320 Neo could operate... the 737 Max will be 42,000lbs heavier than the urban CS100 and the 320 Neo is reported to be over 600kg heavier than the "classic". The PCN may also over-ride too. I'm sure the TPA would love to have WS and AC operate from th...

Re: Porter and the CSeries
I fear this may be a case of history repeating itself. This reminds reminds me an awful lot of Wardair's expansion plans in the late '80s. I hate to say it but, I think Bean's assessment of the situation over on the AEForum is unfortunately the most likely scenario. I would expect no less from TheB...

Re: Porter to WS Encore. . .
Why wouldn't WJ just look at buying Porter then? It's not for sale. for now... best way to kill competition is to buy your competitor. Well that might be great in the short term, but as I recall the history doesn't support your opinion in the long run: PWA & Wardair --> Canadian --> Air Canada --> ...
