Re: AMA vs MEF

AMA shows minimum obstacle or terrain clearance of 1000 feet (2000 feet in mountainous areas) and the MEF shows the lowest possible VFR flight in a quadrant (about 500 feet above obstacles or terrain)

Re: Unknown airport

Not that it matters as your question is about the airport but that looks like one of their 737-400s to me. The engine appears larger than a -200 and is mostly ahead of the wing.

Re: Ottawa TCA ring size?

Is there a reason the class C ring is not labelled with a distance from CYOW? YYZ’s is clearly marked as 26nm. The mode C ring for CYOW is labelled at 45nm but the more important Class C TCA distance is left to my ruler technique? Probably because it's not as simple as a ring. Look at the VTA and y...

Re: Definite Stall/Spin Accident

I find it disturbing the person who took the video just stands there filming after the crash instead of rushing to help. If you watch the video prior to the camera person zooming in, you can see that the accident takes place quite a distance from where they are filming from on the ramp. Also, emplo...

Re: AIP Canada

The old TC AIP was a pain. 4 times a year we would get the ridiculously thin small pages that we had to add and of course all of us would get behind doing the amendments. The NAV version of the AIP is a lot better and way more user friendly since the entire thins is online . However, the more useful...

Re: AIP Canada

Due to the fact that it was not ICAO compliant, the old Transport Canada issued AIP (TP 2300E) needed to replaced. In 2005, two separate documents were created as a result. These were the AIM, which remained under the authority of Transport Canada, and the ICAO compliant version of the AIP, which fa...

Re: Other forthcoming CAR changes

Notam will be NoTice to Air Missions. That would have to be NOtice To Air Missions. But per the TC document (did you bother to read it?) only in FAA-land. The Rest Of The World is sticking with NOTAM as a non-acronym. No, because Canada and TC are just puppets, so sooner or later it will become wha...

Correct. I went to Nashville a few weeks ago and they explicitly called it "NOTAMs (Notice to Air MIssion)" on the D-ATIS.
This, I like.

On the flip side, if you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life. Not sure why people do jobs they don't like. Lots of Money isnt worth the misery. Re: Boat Harasses Beaver

Interesting. I wonder what the law is regarding this. Because the aircraft is operating as a boat, does that prevent the law of "interference of the safe operation of an aircraft", or something along these lines with whatever the criminal code offense officialy is? This type of behavior ought to be...

Re: Quiet Quitting.

I work to earn an income. If I didn't need an income, I wouldn't work. I don't do it because it gives me satisfaction or makes me feel accomplished, and I definitely don't do it to contribute to the success of my employer; they would drop me in a heartbeat if they could find a way to replace me for...

Re: ADSB requirements come to GA in Canada 2023/2026

(spoiler alert: there is not benefit to GA) As someone who has avoided two near misses thanks to ADS-B, I would disagree. The increase in situational awareness can't be discounted. That's only if you have ADS-B-in on top of the soon to be mandated ADS-B out, which would cast even more money. My poi...
