Re: CANJET DOING GREAT!
Of course they are doing great. If you accept a payscale that low someone will employ your services for a period of time. I hope that you recognize that it is way below industry standard and begin negotiating for higher pay over the next 5 years. Someone is making a great deal of money on your backs...

The loads are very good. You may not see many people at one time because we ony have one aircraft on the ground at one time. AC will have 15 and Westjet maybe 5. You will see longer queues when we have 10 plus aircraft. These arguments can go on ad nauseum but none of us flying those Q400s are too w...

Couldn't agree more. I had an interview with this company and they couldn't have been more professional. They want you to speak some French so that you will be able to communicate with the many francophones in thier company. What is wrong with this? It is a yul based company after all. I was very im...

I was sitting at 210 lbs and 5'11'' last year. Down to 198 lbs and still 5'11". I cut the beer consumption by half and increased the wine by 20%. Probably not the best strategy but I did lose lbs. I am not much for fast food but I sure like good cheese. That will be the next vice to be reduced. I ha...

This is great news for Air Canada and the Canadian Airline industry as a whole. I don't work for AC but as a pilot in this country I am proud to see that we still shine. I know that pilots aren't the only part of this story. Good job to everyone involved. I do think that we are well trained here in ...

Why is it that when someone on this forum questions the viability of being able to live on 37K a year in Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, or wherever, they get so much attitude. 37K a year is a very small amount of money and the fact that you may be at 70K in 3 years doesn't make it any easier to feed you...

Boy, some of you guys really hate the CBC. I like it and I would even consider myself on the right wing of the political spectrum. I am both a big Harper fan (from Quebec) and a big CBC fan. They do provide some great programming. In the US they have NPR which is funded both by the taxpayer and by p...

Porter Air is going to make use of an existing facility to provide the central core of our largest city with a fantastic travel alternative. Only in Canada would this become a bad news story. They are going to generate 800 million dollars in revenue every year and relieve road congestion on the Gard...

The Bear for sure. It is a 704 airline job with great travel benefits. Kevin Beddome is a great guy to work for and you will be treated with respect by both co-workers and the flying public. The metroliner is a great airplane as far as being a challenge to fly. No pager going off at 2 am and you are...

The interview is essentially a human resources interview. Very similar to Jazz and AC from what I hear. I have only done a Porter interview however. They ask questions about you and your background and then some "what if" scenarios about difficult flying situations. Then they ask you if you have any...

I agree that there is no shortage of pilots in Canada. However, I think that in countries like India and China there is a very acute shortage. It is only only to get worse. Even in the UK where Easyjet is having difficulty finding people with more than 1000 hours to sit right seat on a B737NG. We ha...

I bought my ANR DCs in California in 2000. They have been superb, but not cheap. Almost $1000Cdn. The quality of construction is second to none. They aren't as streamlined as the Bose but they have proven there worth. The clip at the side which holds the band on broke last year. I sent them to DCs s...

Publicly funding flight training is nonsense in a country like Canada. First of all, do you really require 3 years to figure out how to get a CPL and put 200 hours in the logbook. All at taxpayers expense. In the states, students would achieve the same thing in 6 months. Granted they have better wea...

The story also reported that all US registered aircraft require a TCAS. Well that is not true. I hope that the marketplace sorts this out. Pilots are enjoying a bonanza of opportunity right now.
