Do you know something we don't know DustDevil?
No I don't have any leads for you guys unfortunately. I've just found in the past I've had a hard time getting people to relocate.

Re: in light of mikasew...

Another matter of interest. I originally appointed the Chief engineer of my contract maintenance contractor as my director of maintenance, but TCa disallowed it as it was percieved as a conflict of interest. Wouldn't it seem an owner as DOM would more likely be the one with the conflict of interest...

Re: in light of mikasew...

Lost: It is as the erudite Dust Devil explained. But ...it must be a small operation ... like maybe 2 or 3 airplanes and have a laid out plan as to how it will be managed, and self-audited to catch errors and then have a way to make sure they won't happen again... or maybe have someone from outside...

fogducker, can a person hold all positions in a small vfr company,if not that can be a nightmare for the operator due to high turnover One person can hold all positions in a small IFR operation depending on the individual although it is discouraged. In my operation I divided the responsibilities up ...

Re: Ignatieff gets started with his culture war

Whether a Justice spoke only French or English should not be considered because in the end that person will interpret and rule on the law from their knowledge and experience in their native tongue. Exactly! The ability to interpret the law should be the primary qualification to be be a Supreme Cour...

Ignatieff gets started with his culture war

I don't recall people being outspoken anywhere that Supreme Court Judges don't all speak french fluently. So where did Iggy dig this one up? Perhaps he is taking advice from the CBC to create a culture war between the west and east. Sorry but Iggy claims he is trying to keep the country together but...

Re: Air Mikisew grounded; few details

If you look on the maintenance forum the thread about lack of a dom or an infraction related to not having qualified personal in place seems to have some legitamcy to that. for when 30 days after a dom resigns an oc holder has to have a candidate in place, other wise the oc is suspended . I had a T...

Re: First Air - reduces Edmonton flights, adds YVQ

A benefit that the southern airlines and competition will bring is lowering the cost to do business in the north at the same time you will see more economic opportunities taking place. This spinoff is not just a northern issue but also happens in the south. More and more flights are coming into Regi...

Re: VSI reversal error

For retracting gear, I was always taught to look for a visual positive rate. Even an IFR departure involves a visual takeoff. You then look at the instruments to confirm they are functioning correctly in relation to what you are seeing. This is the final part of the instrument checks we started on ...

Re: VSI reversal error

Especially in VFR your eyes shouldn't be spending that much time in the cockpit. ...yeah it takes about 0.5s (generous estimate) to look at the VSI and confirm a positive rate. I agree glancing at it is fine but you shouldn't need it to confirm a positive rate of climb. If your ASI is looking good ...

Re: VSI reversal error

Lurch I think its a "SOP" that devoloped in the FTU world that you required a positive rate on two intrsuments before bringing the gear up (i know this was the rule where I trained as well as different school where my friends trained). I suspect it has somthing to do with the fear that a student is...

Re: WHY do pilots land gear up?

I fail to understand how "complex" instruction would help when most of the guys doing this stuff have far more than 10 hours in the aircraft they are bellying in. 10 hours in a 172RG or an Arrow isn't going to do squat.

Maybe record the conversation in case you are being slandered and need evidence for a defamation suit (I'm not a lawyer so I don't really know if you should follow that last bit of advice!). I actually had my lawyer say never to do this. It's actually a criminal code violation to record a phone con...
