Re: Show & Tell - Bush Radio.
Where is the dipole wrapped around a piece of plywood or just a messy coil of wire  I started flying in the HF days and AM only SSB wasn't even around in my area then and to the novice RF burns from someone daring you to touch the antenna wire on the front of the old base station was a qui...

Re: Show & Tell - Bush Radio.
Thanks for the info guys! I've wanted one of these for a very long time, and I've read of the importance these have played in day to day life like The Trapper Sched https://www.yukon-news.com/life/don-taylor-and-his-trappers-sched/ I'm looking forward to getting it on the air! It works but it's USB ...

Show & Tell - Bush Radio.
I just acquired a new toy that I have wanted for a very very long time, a Spilsbury SBX-11, a quintessential bush radio, formerly owned by Okanagan Helicopters. I’m looking for some old stories of time in the bush, and what kind of role this radio played in your life then. https://i.imgur.com/0163YU...

Herc dropping 2 SAR-Techs at CYLS
Anyone have any info on this? I just checked the NOTAMS and there is nothing about training in the area, but I can't see a reason why they would have to drop SARtechs so close to a populated area otherwise. I'm 1km away from the end of 28 and it looked like they were right above the airport.

I remember that story from earlier on. Great writing Cat. If you don't want to disclose the amount that's fine but can you shed some light on what sporadic writing like that pays?

Interesting thread. For what it's worth I always fly wearing my hat. And only my hat. I like the feeling of cheap vinyl on my taint.
Also I'm disappointing in hearing people hate on my almost nipple length beard. How the @#$! else am I supposed to know when the Cherokee goes inverted?

What I want to know is since when is refusing to get out of your seat during a customer service dispute considered endangering the a/c? If the FA takes offense with the fact that I slurp my drink, and tells me to stop, am I also going to be considered non compliant and susceptible to the law? As pre...

COLD OPEN FADE IN INT - AVCANADA GENERAL COMMENTS - DAY GUYDIVER walks in asking if there is a pilot who would dare to take him and his aging father to Yuma by air. The forum is dark. There is murmuring about the recent SULLY movie, and about job bonds. From across the forum a rough voice speaks up....

I mean it. If you look at every other water landing where everyone died, I'll bet you the Capt or FO did not have this beast parked on their upper lip.

Why was nobody thanking Aaron Eckhart's mustache? That thing was clearly the hero of the day.
