Re: Keewatin PC-24

I don’t see how they’re going to service this new contract unless they up their pay even more from their latest increase. They can’t even service the contracts they already hold cause of staffing issues. Flying a brand new PC24 would be nice until you realize the mess of an organization you’ve gotte...

Re: Minimum hours ?!

Unless the company states specifically why they require those posted hours, apply anyway! 2 out of my 3 flying jobs I wasn’t qualified for in their job ads. One of those was because of the people I had networked with and a follow up phone call, the second was just pure luck they called back with the...

Re: "Published Payscale"

That’s part of it…. but not all of it. I bet those higher salaries are only achievable with absolutely punishing days—as mileage based pay is supposed to do. Just like those “owner operator” truck drivers who you see blasting past you even though you’re already doing ten over. I thought most operat...

Re: "Published Payscale"

Not bad considering you only work half the year. Please don’t perpetuate this mentality! Working equal days on and days off, but long hours, is still full time work! My wife is a nurse, she has coworkers who work 4 on/4 off 12 hour shifts… nobody talks about how nurses only work half the year! A ty...

wow - Captain incomes ranged from $90,000+ for an entry level Captain, to $140,000+ for our most senior Captain. Qualified candidates bringing a current and valid PPC on type may be eligible for signing bonus. More than the regionals Those are 2019 numbers I believe. A buddy there says 5+ year capt...

Re: 2022 Hiring Outlook - New restrictions?

There has been zero coverage about how this new variant could be exactly what we’ve been waiting for. High spread rate with mild symptoms. We’ve been told herd immunity is next to impossible at this point and it appears it will continue that way as governments don’t even want to chance that happenin...

Re: Life Insurance

I second PPIP. They were easy to get a policy through and their customer service has been top notch since day one. You can only get 500k max though if you want to be insured while acting as a crew member so if you are after more you may have to look elsewhere.

Re: Civil Aviation Medicine number not getting through

Leave a message saying you have an unpaid balance and they'll probably return your call within the day. I remember trying to get through when they did the big document book renewal and recall finally getting on with a person by going through their finance department...Although I do applaud who ever ...

Re: Airlines demand 'concrete plan' for financial aid

All airplanes except government challengers burn dirty oil. Good luck with the bailout...this is the dream of the liberal’s current fixation on going green. They couldn’t give 2 rips about the lost revenue or jobs if it helps them achieve that holy level of carbon that will save the earth.

Re: Micro Drone

The rules for sub 250g drones are very clear: They are toys. You can fly them anywhere you can fly a paper airplane. Not according to transport Canada One could argue the word "should" is just a recommendation. Notice the heading above uses "must". They could have also used "shall" which they also ...

Re: Perimeter Aviation Interview

Did one a few years back with the chief pilot, lots of “tell me about a time when” type questions related to flying ops and working with a crew. Make sure to ask questions yourself. It turned into a pretty quick no from me when it was revealed I’d be starting off in a casual floater type position (m...

Valard King Air

Does anyone know if the posted 350 captain ad is for the King Air that Fast Air has been trying to get someone on for quite some time? Or is this a new 350 based in Winnipeg? Requirements seem steep, hope they are paying top dollar for someone like that. Would maybe be interested but not if it’s for...

Re: Traing bond legal question

I highly doubt that was written into what you signed so you’re probably out of luck. Hopefully for your sake the company is too busy and just doesn’t care to come after you for what you had remaining on the bond(hopefully it was pro rated). I’ve seen some just forget about it cause it’s not worth pu...

Just wondering how much they pay for captain? Lots of twin turbine 705 captains in YWG but they're all making well over 6 figures, and not going to gamble on a start up unless there's a dump truck of cash offered. "Pay is commensurate of experience" isn't going to work. Agreed, a lot of ...

I used the 6 on 6 off to get into crazy good shape. Also did lots of fishing to relax. Your comment struck a chord with me because I want to wring your neck for being one of the douche bags who likely made my life miserable while you pushed weather to pad your mileage. However, when the lady next d...

How many pilots do you know that are lazy slobs? I’ve met my fair share, and it sounds like the comment struck a chord with you. I’ve never worked illegal schedules nor was forced to do anything unsafe or that I didn’t want to do. Ya the northern bases could have been more ritzy but it was nice hav...

Weekly ads lately posted by skynorth. If that salary was true a company wouldn't keep posting. But who wants to go there as skynorth is not going to be getting the new medevac contract. Skynorth is bye bye, just a matter of time. What makes you so sure? Last I heard is they had the points for being...

Re: Getting a mortgage as a Pilot

It’s been a few years since I was in this position but I remember getting my company to put full pay including per diems on letterhead to take to my lender. Can’t remember if per diems made any difference but I did get what I was after. It was also a credit union which I know is less restrictive to ...
