Re: College of pilots
If an association why not go under ALPA, WJPA, or ACPA with a broader scope to cover all pilots? The decisions each of these associations have, have an affect on the industry as a whole in Canada as it is.

Re: First year fo pay?
not that far off at all. My avg paychecks this year on the new year 1 pay scale are about 2200/mth net. occasional WDO. I'll reiterate that it is indeed garbage, and I do work there.

Re: Winter Bid released today.
ALPA or any union isn't going to do squat. It's very evident over the years. True unity happens on the mental level of each pilot. We are our own worst enemy to ourselves and others.
mbav8r, idiots may come for the current low wages, but who are the ones who voted yes for that contract?

Re: Winter Bid released today.
What happens at the next bid? Or the next... Jazz, like the other regionals are shifting away from career destinations. They don't want guys making 100k plus. They don't want you here for more than 5-10 yrs. Sky, GGN, WJE top pay scales are indicative of that. Future contracts will further erode, a...

Hiring continues, around 20/mth from what I heard. If you're interested, apply. Plenty getting hired around the same time that you have.

It obviously means you'll be paid at an apprentice level. The job ad doesn't mention anything regarding future flying or even a license for the requirements. Anyone applying would be keen to ask questions and get things in writing IMO

Re: American Airlines pilot arrested in Detroit
Most 121 carriers have a company imposed BAC of 0.02 and a 12 hour bottle to throttle limit. The FAA inspectors for each airline, signed off on it, thus making it the law of the respective company land. The irony of an AA pilot getting busted is thick... The irony is that fatigue is apparently ok. ...

Re: Rewriting the IATRA / ATPL for a higher score ?
Never heard of that and it's absolutely ridiculous that one should ask. If so then you should be able to ask them how well they did on theirs, or their degree, etc. Also why not just say 100 if they want to be nosey and lazy to determine ones qualifications, they can't check unless they ask for it.....

Re: Up Coming Interview
Just courious about the experience level of those beeing interviewed right now. Seems like it has been a long time since the last update on this. From 250-3000+ from what I've heard and know. I think most are around 1200 or so. New pay may suck, but still a good company and good crews to work with.

Re: Air Canada Service is bad
Every airline whether employee or procedures is bound to piss someone off at some point. I've experienced it on every airline I've flown on as a pax and I'm sure most of you have as well. This is wide spread to every industry. It's human nature for one to have a bad day, takes discipline though not ...

Re: E-Mail from Jazz to complete application
I can't seem to find anything in the agreement specifically regarding restrictions to travel on days off during training. It does pay dividends to be very nice to your training coordinator. Section 29 LOU #6 part 3) Of course it always pays to be nice to them or any other employee :) And OP I secon...

Re: E-Mail from Jazz to complete application
They will only fly you to where you lived/domicile, it's in the contract. Prior to ground school, I was out west. During my days off in training I was wanting to go east to visit family, and this was simply not allowed, even though the distance was a lot shorter. My training coordinator said only to...

Actually more often than not call backs are slow. Recruitment is working hard the past year as they can with all the hiring of pilots and FAs. Your patience will reward itself in the end.

Re: Alteration of an aviation document
While true for altering a aircraft reg, I have often seen in movies where it's clear they have put for example a N over the C on cdn aircraft (think that was in resident evil? Also done in other movies) None the less I wonder if there's a special exemption for that for the purpose of a movie? I don'...

This industry seems to be leveraged to the economy. By the time pilots start talking about how low time pilots are going straight to the majors in Canada, that is a good time to sell your shares and go to cash in your RRSP. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/report-on-business/westjet-bracing-for-prolo...

Some colour coordination would be nice. The black pants don't really match the dark blue jacket and hat, but match the black overcoat, and certainly not my red undies.

Re: Need some quick answers re: unionization of airlines!
I really can't see airlines becoming less unionized. For one, most already are unionized and would require decertification, which is very rare. Secondly, the airlines that aren't, have rumours or attempts at unionizing already. Union or not, both sides have plus and minuses. But with tight competiti...
