Amphibian Pitt Lake 05.19.20

Reported on local news of an "amphibian" (I assume as opposed to a floatplane) made a hard landing on Pitt Lake. I've seen photos of a yellow keel, but no CADORS as far as I've seen. Most importantly the pilot and sole occupant is reported to be OK. Anyone know more? https://aviation-safety.net/wiki...

Another floatplane crash, Sechelt

Reported on local radio to be a privately owned Beaver, departed YVR heading to Pender Harbour. All 3 on board OK, aircraft sank.

https://globalnews.ca/news/5703833/seap ... e-sechelt/

I can say that YVR based Beaver's GUWF, GWKD & FGQF are all safe and sound.

So no CRJ550?

Or are they included in the backlog to be complete by next year?

I always thought the 340A was also a Crusader?

GXPE flew into YYJ yesterday using its tail # as a callsign, still with the same IAX titles though - someone managed to circumvent the grounding somehow?

Trying to find Chipmunk s/n C1-0666

Ex Royal Navy WP766 T.10 supposedly came to Canada in Oct 1994, possibly registered to Jordan Aviation.

But can find no record of this s/n on the CCARCS.

Any Chippy experts help me locate it?

No, its in YVR now mainly operating the Orca Qualicum scheds. You can clearly see where the cowl has been replaced too, all red engines, with a white cowl on that side.

Re: Orca is no longer

I remember when Orca got the bag contract in Alberta from Sunwest and they did such a poor job that it ended up going back Sunwest. Maybe their Ho’s had too much rain water in them. Sunwest has been a long time Metro, Caravan, and Ho operator and they were very good at it, although not cheap. Safet...

Re: Orca is no longer

But then... shouldn’t they have been bankrupt four years ago? ;) They still don’t (present tense, not past) have Metros. My point is, the failure of a company is rarely tied to a specific aircraft type. Look at Perimeter and Bearskin and Carson. Each have been successfully running Metros in all dif...
