Re: Confused foreign AME

Jetsfly Nope. EASA does not recgonise the new CASA system. EASA never will either, due to the stuff ups CASA has made. So if I was you, it would be much easier and cheaper if you just do the 13 modules with EASA and get the EASA licence from there. You can do all 13 modules at BCIT last I herd. Righ...

Re: Confused foreign AME

CASA has changed over to an EASA style NAA system. But in true CASA form they c*cked it up. For those of us who transferred ratings from Canada to Australia under the old CAR30 system, got screwed over when the new Part 66 system rolled out. CASA placed an B1R retardation(restrictions) on my licence...

appame Make sure you have all of your SOE signed up. If its possible, get your hands on an Transport Canada AME logbook. But if not don't fret, just make sure your SOE is all signed. Do you have an ASIC? If so, get a letter from the local ASIC office to write an official letter that outlines that yo...

Re: AME at New Zealand

acidgambit Back post 911 I ended up at Airnz, I was an Licenced AME (LAME) at Airnz, Crew chief, line maintenance, 6 days on/ 3days off shift, and the pay scale was 60k (including any extras). I do believe it has risen to some where in the mid to high 80k range now. Cost of 2 litres of milk $6.00. P...

Re: can anyone get me a job???

KFC in YVR had 2 AME departures in Feb.
Now they have a couple more AME to depart in a couple months.
All they can get is apprentices to fill in temp positions.
You've got a good shot to get a job.
You will get some ratings as well, convair, 727, DC10, and anything else out of the 1950's.

Re: More DC-10's for KFC

Maybe DC10's 105 and 106 can have their engines put onto the first two aircraft that have no engines! Last I herd out of KFC is they are having a departure of DC10 rated AME's. 5 DC10 rated guys have left YVR in the last year(3 laid off, 2 quit) and YHM had some departures too. Wonder whats going on...

Re: Red-Pass

Not true. In YVR, "check point charlie", now requires you to get out of your vehicle and strip down walk thru a ferris metal detector, then re-dress and get back into your vehicle. Your red pass is first scanned to open the gate, then scanned again for your finger print, then you drive to check poin...

Aviator_mech Try Kelowna Flightcraft. Send your resume to their HR office. In your cover letter tell them you dont mind relocating to YVR. I hear there is going to be some depatures there soon. You dont mind working on Convairs, 727's and DC10's do ya? Oh yeah, no hangar there either, cant be bad co...

Re: QANTAS - again

Qantas has got to the point where they have reduced, cut back, diminished their maintenance system back to where their equipment is starting to fail. Qantas has shut down nearly all of their in house maintenance facilities and moved their maintenance requirements offshore because its cheaper. Qantas...

Re: Training Contracts!!

AME321 2yrs is not that long. If you refuse to sign the training bond, but still want to complete the course, please get written or recorded evidence that you were pulled off the course for refusing to sign the training bond. That will stand up in court. If you did go to court after leaving the comp...

Re: AME Duty Time Limits

One of my AME licences has duty time limits written in legislation(CARs). It is a time limit for certifying AME of 16hrs per shift, 7 days in a row, and on the 8th day you must have a 24hr stand down. Now if you are not certfying, you can work as long as the drugs will keep you awake. Sounds great d...

Last time I looked, my Aircraft Maintenance Engineer Licence was issued and regulated by Transport Canada. ...

Re: Civvy to Military AMEs

Brice, I'm not sure how the Canadian Military AME system is set up. Is the canadian Military AME divided into separate trades like: airframe, power plant, radio, navigation, electrical, sheet metal?? You might find yourself in a situation where there is a defect that cannot be fixed, so under the mi...

Pat, Most of the guys from my era are multi endorsed, multi licenced, mainly from their travels around the globe. Even if the AME who is leaving the trade only has one endorsement, it will be difficult to replace that individual because of the experiences/ quick fix/ inside knowledge is being lost. ...

altaus, If they have an in-house practical examiner, then go for it. The system is based on you already having an valid AME licence and practical experience. I did my A&P at Avtech, I then had to travel across L.A. to the practical examiner in Hollywood because their one was not available. I started...

Re: Maintenance Engineers

Pat, Maybe we should post the ratings and licence categories held by the AME's who are leaving or about to leave. This is so the "Halfwits" can see what is being lost. (not that it will register in their brains) Example one: 4 ICAO AME licences. Airframe, Powerplant, Electrical, Instrument and Radio...

Coz the KF employee I know says a different story. Maybe KF isn't telling their own employees whats going on!
