Re: THE NEXT GIGANTIC ISSUE.
by NATHAN J. ROBINSON If I believed climate change mattered as much as I am supposed to think it matters, I would be spending my every waking effort calling urgently for political action. I am not doing this. Therefore, I think I believe less in the importance of climate change than I say I do. Goo...

Re: Corn Field or Bean Field
That interpretation got shot down in flames by the TATC not long ago, in a case against EVAS Air that TC lost. The tribunal said TC was talking a load of bunkum and the government wasn’t free to invent its own definition of “type design” to the contrary of the very narrow one in the CARs. The TATC ...

A brief search on the TSB's website shows numerous investigations of amateur built or ultralight aircraft.

Re: Auto Thrust or Auto Throttle?
I always understood the term 'autothrottle' to be used on systems where the computer actually moves the thrust levers (like a Boeing).
Whereas 'autothrust' is used in the cases where the computer controls the actual thrust, but doesn't move the levers (like an Airbus).
Perhaps I am wrong though.

Re: Why feather metal props for gear up?
I always thought the reason you feathered the props once in the flare (in this scenario) was so that they would reduce RPM faster and would come to a stop sooner (compared to not being feathered). Regardless of propeller type, I'd rather they hit the ground stopped as opposed to flinging around at ~...

For those who didn't notice, this is likely the reason for the offer..... Maybe I'll just wait out the pandemic before going for a medical and let my friends fly my aircraft and I can be the passanger, They can log the hours since another ten thousand hours on my licence won't change anything, 😎 Fro...

Re: 182 down by Smithers
the caveat is that this was demonstrated with a healthy engine at idle power. I'm confused. For all of these 'trials' people are conducting, are we talking an idling engine, or a non running engine? (Ahramin, others?) It seems to me that this difference would create wildly different results. I'm st...

Re: Use The Park Brake
Use the parking brake when?
Every time you stop?
Or only those times where you intended to be completely fixated?
How can you identify ahead of time the occasions where you will be fixated?
Should you also rely on the parking brake while you're heads down for a prolonged time?

Re: Use The Park Brake
I'm all for 'safety improvements' but I'm with photo on this one. I don't think the 'remember the parking brake' advice is the solution here. Lets keep in mind a few things. 1. A Cessna 172R at idle doesn't exactly accelerate like a ferrari. 2. He must have moved at least 30-40 feet to hit another p...

Something about this video seems fake, but I can't put my finger on it.
I think it's the perspective, and early camera position 'swimming'.
Is it just me?

Additionally, I wonder if the pilot had brought the power to ideal before or even AFTER the initial touch down.
