Re: YVR is getting new Wildlife Control Contractor 2014
I thought this might prompt some outrage over outsourcing Canadian jobs. The Australian company will most likely be hiring the current wildlife officers one would hope!!!

YVR is getting new Wildlife Control Contractor 2014
Not sure about the details of new contractor but apparently it will be an Australian Company with a 2014 spring launch date.
Re: WPPA.ca
It is obvious that the rank and file are not happy with the new direction management is trying to steer them towards. The strength of WestJet is their people and the company is jepordizing that valuable asset. They said they would not meddle in the process and now they suspend road shows with low tu...
Re: WPPA.ca
I also have heard some very angry comments from their pilots wrt the forced base moves. Many had bid ports of their choice , bought homes , uprooted families etc etc.,only to be forced to YYZ base. The entire company will be commuting it seems come Feb. The pilot association seems to be facilitating...

Re: Crew Rostering/Scheduling Scheme at Westjet
It would be great if an old CP or Canadian scheduling committee pilot were to weigh in on this thread. The AC system is very much inferior to what we came up with after the five mergers to make up CDN,s bidding system. Like many things AC would not entertain any changes to "it,s not how we do it men...

Please explain...If you book a flight with one of your C2/J09 free upgrade passes and you do not get into J does that constitute the loss of one of your 3 passes for that year????

Re: Calgary Hotels for Port Commuters
Well that is what happened to us in YYZ years ago and as a small group we were able to secure much better rates than the company was quoted at hotels not on their lists. I think you might be surprised at the results if you pursue some rates as port commuters.

Calgary Hotels for Port Commuters
Has anyone approached YYC hotels close to the airport with a proposal to stay at their hotels a couple of times per month to cover those overnights between pairings or prior to a pairing. Years ago in YYZ when we had a winter charter base there we approached several hotels on the strip with shuttle ...

Re: Clearance Readbacks
Can anyone provide a clear REFERANCE to where to place your call sign in an ATC clearance or instruction . Long ago I was taught your call sign proceeds the ATC instruction. It seems in listening to read backs today most pilots read back their clearance or instructions ,then end their transmission w...

You potential West Jet pilots should realize the important information DaveP provides you on a regular basis. Don't burden him with your individual situations ; he is providing you with information no other airline provides. Just check red side to prove my point.

Re: NT Air King Air Accident - Pilot Discussion Thread
This getting off the topic of this thread but!! Wildlife control officers were hired 01 March 2009 at a higher wage than Commisionars had been paid.but less than they were asking for if they had not been replaced by more highly trained replacement staff. The escorts that park and watch outside worke...

F/Os Nearing Capt Upgrade Used as Temporary Captains ????
Just wondering if WestJet had ever considered using "senior" F/Os as temporary Captains for periods when unforseen scheduling problems arise. I would give crew planning more options at various "ports " if problems occur???
