Re: Bombardier rips into the Globe and Mail

Our new aircraft has the longest range, the largest cabin and smoothest ride of any business jet ever made. This statement annoys me. Is the Global 7500 really a larger cabin than the ACJ380 (or any of the wide-body Airbus Corporate Jets or Boeing Business Jets?). Boeing and Airbus models both have...

Still some here have stuck to their blind hold it off as long as possible idea. Funny you say blind. The whole point is attitudes. Looking out the window, comparing the nose/cowl/windshield to the horizon. First you’re going to be nose below the horizon pitching for airspeed. In the flare you’re go...

Re: That Smooth Landing

I agree with photofly, holding it off is perfectly fine advice. If you have students striking the tail or getting close to it. You’re not saving them from striking the tail, you’re making up for your own poor instruction. From lesson number 1 you should be drilling in landing attitudes, giving them ...

Re: Small Plane Crash at Carp - Pilot Injured

I know airplanes have fuel gauges and on should monitor fuel. What I'm saying is a tiny amount of oil will make a fair amount of smoke, a bad turbo is hardly going to expel 12 liters of oil in the average flight. I'm not saying you should fly with a turbo going bad just that if it goes bad in the a...

Sent an email to our chief negotiators office about this very thing. But protecting those who extort us to pay significantly higher milk prices and their few votes are much more important. Maybe we should all send emails to congressman who are more interested in this. anybody here want to organize ...

Stop trying to flare a 172 like the space shuttle.

Arrest the decent and hold it off for long as you can. Anticipate the drops, use your derrière gyro.

Perhaps not all was known back at the time of WWI but I could see myself having no interest in going to the fields of France to support the King at the time when you just march into a hail of bullets to satisfy an general's ambition that is obviously not going to work. WWII was a completely differe...

I’m not a flight instructor or a sky god. I’ve no opinion if the ho driver or instructor is better. But here is a snap shot of my local experience. I am well placed on the sidelines of a local FTU to observe the quality of instructors today. Within the last year I’ve seen 6 or 7 class IV come and go...

There's nothing cool about an F-35. Even the F-18 (which I've heard they're using) is significantly less interesting than the F-14 which was the star of the first movie. Hopefully the enemy airplanes are something special. Have you seen an F-35 fly in person? I have and it was truly spectacular. It...

Look outside and don't hit shit. Good advice for any altitude. As an aside, you're often safe in the Lower Mainland flying in the "devil's triangle" between Blunder Bay - Schitt Meadows - Stabbotsford, if you fly at 2,500'. Lots of schools have scared their students about the dangers of busting ter...

Re: Taxi Lights or no Lights during the day (For small GA AC)

Electricity virtually “free”
Light bulbs cheap
Mid air collisions expensive, probably fatal.

Turn the light on, if they burn out frequently replace with even brighter LED.

So far magnes hasn’t been able to come close to c-plan quotes through the eaa. The broker is Nacora. You have to be an eaa member. Worth checking into. What is better in the EAA insurance policy? Re: garmin vs. Avidyne GPS

I’ve got lots of time with the gtn 650 and a little bit of on the ground time with the avidyne. If you already have a 430 in the plane I’m sure you know the ifd is a plug and play replacement. Which is admittedly attractive. As far as performance goes, I prefer the flow and logic of the garmin, once...

Ultimately there is no market for recreational flight training in Canada. As above, customers already feel that flight training is “too expensive” so raising prices to accommodate increased costs of doing business reduces business in an eventual death spiral of said business. As the current trend i...
