Re: Why WestJet?
This my opinion. If you are 35 or younger, you are probably better off going to WestJet. Even if you end up waiting 10 years for an upgrade, you still have potentially 20 years left in that left seat. And remember, if you upgrade at year 10, you go straight to year 10 captain scale. And while you w...

Re: Likelihood of Hiring without 705 Time?
We have hired some in the past few years without 705 time. King Air Captains etc. 705 time is much more common as mentioned above. It will give you another box to tick off on the resume. A big question is are you planning on staying in YYC? At AC you will be commuting for your career if YYC is home....

Re: New Hire Reserve Time
Folks - how about showing some professional unity, courtesy, and raising the bar? Fulsome answers and sharing of knowledge is the goal. For the OP - once you complete your line check you’ll spend the remainder of that block month on RSV. Going forward, my best guess would be you’ll be on RSV for 12...

Re: Air Canada Pre Employment Medical
I applied for a position with Air Canada Rouge. My initial ECG results were abnormal during that process, which was quite surprising. However, I was informed that the machine used for the test may have been faulty. When I went for a second ECG for my Air Canada application, the results were normal....

Re: Qualifications for new Hire
Depends on the operator. 1000-2000 hours seems like a normal range for the smaller ones. 2000-3000 is probably right for WJ and AC. That's a rough guess. Thanks What other qualifications are desired by 705 operators? As I indicated if I’m going to be stuck at a 703 operator for 10 plus years with 6...

Re: Northern operator as a first job?
My info is dated but I'd give Perimeter a try as well. I'm not sure if they still do ramp to flight line but it was great experience. Especially on the metro.

Re: No pilot recalls until Spring 2023???
A lot of furloughs are bypassing their recall. AC sweating Bypassing on this second round? I don't think you will see as many bypassing on this round besides people who are on a LOA. A number of those pilots who didn't accept recall on round 1 were waiting for YVR positions to become available. Wil...

Re: Encore Hiring 250 hrs
Canada needs a 1500 hour rule like the US. It's good for the regional pilots because less supply means higher wages. It's good for the smaller operators because they can hold on to guys longer. And it's good for the airlines that aren't short sighted because it provides experienced crews. +1 It wou...

Re: New pilots nowadays
Things should turn around soon and the free jobs ad page will be flush again with entry and mid level jobs. 200 hours and a good work ethic/attitude and a bit of luck will once again land someone in the right seat. In this market having a few less hours may benefit you. There are a few examples on t...

Re: Do potential employers look at your SARON/SAMRA results?
How would they get them? Call TC and ask for your results? I wrote mine 22 years ago and have no clue what my scores were other than I passed them and have a valid ATPL. I ran into this issue a few years ago. Ended up having to use this site to sign up for Transport Canada GCKey. The secure sign in...

Re: Pilots in waiting NWAL Post
I think it is a great opportunity for someone who is a low time pilot with no family obligations. Not too many other job opportunities out there currently in the aviation sector. Once things pick back up the wait time on the ramp will decrease rapidly. A good position to be in compared to the ones t...
