Re: Hotel Rates for Commuters

Ha. One of the Captain's suggested the Whyndam in Calgary has a decent rate if you call in. But can't seem to find that in YVR.

I just put all my cash into finally buying a house in Sidney, no money left for an RV but that's a great idea. Lol.

Hotel Rates for Commuters

Pretty simple question. Which hotels around YVR (and for the sake of having a good thread for this, other airports as well) are the best for the commuter? I will very soon be commuting to YVR from YYJ and have the travel covered. But I won't be there enough to make an apartment or 1200/month roach m...

Re: 36 years old and 1100 hours

42 and 1400 myself. I was hired by a regional with a reasonable pay (for a Navajo) a few months ago so I can get some multi PIC (1000+ single PIC) but I have been getting calls from resumes 6 months old offering work. Even a float operation I was dying to work for 5 years ago called to offer me a ra...

Re: IATRA Validity Exemption

I tried calling but keep running out of time on hold. I did put in an email request but who knows how long that will last. In the meantime I'm just applying to single pilot jobs and hoping for the best. It's going to take a bit to write the As as I haven't been able to pause life long enough to get ...

Re: IATRA Validity Exemption

I have an email in to TC regarding this exact question as I wrote mine in January of 2020. 3 weeks later I have yet to get a response myself. I am on hold with them as we speak so hopefully I can get a verbal answer there. I'll report on what I find out.

Duty time sheet

Howdy folks. Just curious. Does anyone have a decent sheet (google docs, excel, etc.) they use to track duty times with warnings for when your getting close to the maximums? I have an old one from an old employer but the set up is locked so I can’t change the formulas for the changes that happened a...

ISO 5th Wheel Parking

Good morning. I will be working at a aerial LiDAR job out of Pitt Meadows starting this month and have access to a 5th wheel. I just need a driveway with some water, power, wifi and access to a washroom/shower if no sewer hook up if possible. I'll only be staying there until I find a real apartment/...

ISO YPK Crash Pad

Good morning aviators. I will be relocating to Vancouver for a survey gig out of Pitt Meadows in early April. I will be fully moving my fiancee and dogs there eventually but am looking for somewhere to stay until I can find such a place. It would be just myself until my fiancee and I find that perma...

Help with some POHs

Hello all. Simple request. Looking for a 1959 C182B and a 1980 T210N POH. Have a new position that starts next month and I'm looking for PDFs so I can get familiar. Cheers!

Re: Foreflight vs Garmin Pilot in Canada

I fly charters and use fltplan go on my android and iPads. Both have their faults and it takes a bit to figure out how to use it efficiently. But it's free and does the job. Even has geo referenced airport diagrams and whatnot.

Aztec E

Hello all. I might have the chance to get some extra multi time in an Aztec (1970ish I think, which should make it an E) while I am laid off here. Does anyone have a copy of some documents such as the POH/Checklist/SOPs/etc for one of these? I'm just curious about it more than anything and haven't f...

Re: New Bottom Feeder's

When most, if not all in the aviation sector, are both future and financially fuct, you’re the one who decides who’s a “bottom feeder”??? Shouldn’t we, individually, in our own specific circumstances, decide what’s best for us and our families? Maybe more considerate thought is a wiser investment t...

Looking for a place in Sioux Lookout

Good morning aviators. I will be moving to Sioux Lookout for a new flying job, but will need to find a place to live shortly after arriving. I am mature, stable, non smoker, not a drinker, no pets or children. Self contained studio or 1 bedroom suite, apartment or cabin. If you know of something I w...

Re: Hanging up the headset... anyone done it ? Anyone thinking of it?

So yeah, I kinda have had to step out at least temporarily. I have been laid off from my skydive job since last season. During the winter I finished my Group 1 and IATRA with 800+ TT, tonnes of PIC and 2 flying jobs under my belt. Lots of referrals and references while expecting calls for interviews...

Just noticed the posting for a 206 pilot. Does anyone have updated info? Schedule, pay, if any crew housing is provided if your operating out of Deas Lake or something? Stuff like that.

I was caught in a precarious position when the crap hit the fan. I have regional hours, finished my Group 1 and IATRA in February. Had recommends and referrals at several places for MediVac, PasCo and a couple others. Sent out apps, had some positive feed back, annnnnnnnnd. COVID! And then mom got c...

Re: Grab a seat. The music is stopping

I have to admit i've been feeling pretty low over the last year or so watching all my friends and colleagues move on to their "dream" companies while my behind stayed firmly planted in a left 703 medevac seat. It wasn't a matter of not having the opportunity...it's certainly been there. The choice ...

Re: Grab a seat. The music is stopping

This whole thing has me spinning myself. Two low time jobs in, pipes and skydiving with a little more than 800 hours. Finished my IATRA and Group one a month ago, then proceeded to fire out resumes to all the places I have wanted to work long time. Even told the skydive job I'd bow out and let them...
