Re: YWG Onsite Assessment - 2019

Invite received by e-mail this morning! Will be flying out on the 20th to attend the assessment on the 21st! :) Same, went through the wSim questions. Not sure how accurately they compare to the difficulty of the actual assessment though. I did the actual assessment about 2 years ago and from what ...

Re: FEAST

So to be clear, the initial step in the process is the 8 minute online test and the essay, then the people who who do well gets invited to FEAST at the ACC then the third stage is the 2 day boot Camp? I understand that this process is new and there isn’t much information on it yet.

Re: YWG in-person interviews

Good luck to all who are getting course offers. I was just wondering how many different towers could they send you to when you completed your VFR course , and how many different sectors could you be sent to after completing your IFR course? Does Winnipeg only have one terminal sector in their FIR ?...

Re: FEAST

Hi, i've done the FEAST. It replaces the paper based (w-sim) in-person assessment session. The FEAST is a computer based testing. If successful, you're moved onto the "boot camp" 2 days at the ACC. I believe the new process is quite fast. Should take 6 months ish to get into the pool. Depending on ...

Re: Which FIR region in Canada gives you the best chance of getting into IFR

Why the instance on IFR? Both training streams are incredibly challenging. I recommend to people to take what they get. You odds at a licence are better if you start VFR then you can bid into IFR after 3 years with the security of return rights to your VFR unit. In the last contract they froze all ...

FEAST

Hello all I was recently informed that Nav Canada is using a new method of testing called the FEAST. From what I’ve heard it’s the same method used by EUROCONTROL to assess potential ATC candidates. Can anyone one here elaborate as to what this system is like and what stages of the old system does i...

Which FIR region in Canada gives you the best chance of getting into IFR

Hello fellow ATC hopefuls and those that have already realized the dream. I’m looking to apply to ATC in the next few months and I am willing to apply to any FIR that gives me the best chance to be placed on an IFR course. The websites say the have assessments 3 times a year in Edmonton, Winnipeg an...

Re: IFR Pay Scale

I know what the base salaries are for checked out IFR controllers , but I was wondering how much increment is given per year and up to how much? Also how does one become an ATC instructor, do you have to work as a controller for a specified time before you can be considered, do you have to have addi...

Re: IFR Pay Scale

I know people will all have different opinions on this but what are the advantages and disadvantages of being a terminal IFR as opposed to an en-route IFR controller? Do the en-route controllers get a more steady flow of traffic? Is bringing the planes closer together more exciting ? Once being chec...

Ok, thank you.

How do they determine which specialty is best suited for you ? Do the student have a choice, is it by how well you did in the basic course, or is it where they need you?

I have a question regarding this, I may not be understanding things clearly but, do terminal IFR controllers get paid the same as enroute terminal controllers at the same seniority level or is there a higher premium for one over the other?

Thank You

Do the Quizzes you do at the end of each lesson in the ITA have any bearing or effect on your course. If you fail a lesson quiz in the Pre study information they send to you will it affect you when you start your course ?

Thank You

Re: In Person Interview Results Taking a Long Time

Hello everyone.

I did my in person interview in April in YEG and they still haven't posted the results on the takecharge website. Is anyone else in here in that same position. I'm approaching week 5 since my interview.

Also does anyone know the schedule of upcoming courses for YEG ?

Thank you
